Dsis mounjaro worried she's not eating enough

Hope someone can help. My sister started wli 7 weeks ago.
Most days this is what she eats
Breakfast - nothing just a cappuccino
Lunch ( although often doesn't have anything) 1 sour dough avocado and tomato
Dinner fruit occasionally something like salad and a chicken fillet or a sausage

That's it , she has lost 1st 2lb in 8 weeks.

I'm worried she's not eating enough surely this isn't sustainable once she stops them. And will gain it all back?
Also no exercise and I've read this can lead to muscle deteriorating?

I'm useless at giving advice but I am worried about her. She's also been having much more frequent headaches and feeling ill.

She really really needs to be eating protein and start to lift weights - otherwise loads of that weight loss will just be muscle, absolutely not what you want

I’ve been taking it the same length of time (didn’t have a huge amount to lose, but it’s going well. About 7kg down. But to your point I’m eating a bit more than that - usually small bowl of cereal and prunes or yoghurt for breakfast. No snacks but small portions and lunch/dinner sound similar. I’m rubbish on calorie counting.

It doesn’t sound much but it may be ok? Difficult to know without seeing quantities. Be good if she did some exercise even if just walking.

Actually yes good points re protein. I do make a point of having fish/egg/meat/pulses at lunch and dinner. And lots of water.

OhNoMyChocMelted · 16/07/2025 21:36

Thank you.
The portions are very small, smaller than her 6 year olds food.
No exercise inc walking , except for round the shops occasionally grocery shopping.

I feel I need to tell her I'm worried but unsure how to approach it.

I think she's probably trying her best to make sensible choices with the food she can manage to eat. I really struggled to get much in on Mounjaro. If you haven't been on it, you can't understand how it can make you just abruptly feel you can't possibly eat another bite. Like your sister, I'd tell myself: if you can only manage a small amount, it better be something worth eating and not crap. So I'd eat avocado toast and vegetables, and chicken salad for dinner. Protein-focus.

Can you Google some advice from a supplier and discuss with her?

All of us randoms on the internet will have different starting points and different exercise abilities. I try to walk 10k steps a day, but also cycle a lot. That may not be her thing. Depending on her age she should prob be doing resistance training as well (I’m rubbish at that).

OhNoMyChocMelted · 16/07/2025 21:44

Thank you.
I shall have a look online. I just don't want her to become ill. She's 49

the headaches could be down to dyhradtion shes probably not drinking enough

Honestly if she’s a competent adult managing her life, then she’s capable of managing her diet. I don’t think that raising it with her will go well or be helpful. You’re only able to monitor this aspect of her personal medical choices because you can observe what she’s eating, when you see her eat, and make judgements based on that. You wouldn’t have any idea about her health and well-being if it was some less public medical issue.

I agree with @girljulianin what she says about how Mounjaro can affect your appetite. She’s not eating crap, and I’m sure she’s well aware that she needs to find a sustainable diet for the long term and that there’s always a risk of regain.

IsItSnowing · 20/07/2025 12:46

I would leave her to it. She’s an adult capable of making her own decisions. She doesn’t need your input and however well meaning I personally wouldn’t appreciate it.
She’ll find her ability to eat will fluctuate anyway. Some days I’m not hungry at all but other days I can eat more.

Was there ever this degree of concern with VLC diets like lighter life?
