Mockjaro

For various reasons I don’t want to use weight loss injections. I want to pretend that I’m doing it (mockjaro lol) and eat accordingly. Any advice on calories and what to eat gratefully received…..

Work out your calorie requirement (find a TDEE calculator online). Work out what a calorie deficit would be.

Ask ChatGPT to do you a weekly meal plan for that amount of daily calories. Tell it to exclude any foods you don’t like. It will even create a shopping list for the meal plan.

Stop thinking about food I suppose. Eat just to keep alive rather than for enjoyment.

My family went on a five hour trip the other day. When we stopped at the services and they were getting something to eat I was sort of bewildered as it hadn’t crossed my mind that anyone could be hungry. Before I would have had a sausage roll whether I was hungry or not.

Cut out upfs, high sugar food and fairy food and only eat the rest within your calorie deficit described above.

High protein and a good amount of fibre as well.

Worrying about calories is not really necessary. If you want to pretend you're on MJ, stop thinking about food - entirely. And then when lunch/dinner time rolls around, opt for the healthy option because that's what you instinctively want. Don't always finish your plate. No pudding required as they don't interest you any more. Grab a piece of fruit or a yoghurt instead. You eat for nourishment only, not enjoyment. Don't crave anything.

Good luck!

Stop thinking about food. Cook some food and then struggle to eat it. Weight weekly and be shocked at how fast the scales move.

magicpant · 15/07/2025 07:44

Well I just eat as I would on any other attempt to lose weight. 3 healthy meals a day, occasional snack. The difference for me is that I could not ever successfully do it without MJ.

I got to the top of my healthy BMI last year and have lost about 8kg since January (I think that’s about 15lb). I know not as much as people who use WLI but honestly it’s been very hard. I have used ChatGPT like my weight loss coach. It does running totals for me of calories, fibre and protein. I also talk to it when I’m having cravings and often it helps me not to reach for the chocolate.

I have focused quite a lot on fibre as it helps you feel more full and also I find when I eat less that my digestion grinds to a halt - so having plenty of fibre helps. I cut down on carbs (although not completely) and don’t tend to have things like white bread/ crisps etc often. Also because when you eat a lot of carbs you retain a lot of water and this prevents the scale from moving (which can be very demotivating when you are trying so hard).

There is a woman called the Glucose Goddess on Instagram, useful for ideas on how to keep blood sugar steady rather than spiking up and down - this helps with reducing cravings.

Good luck!

There’s a massive Facebook Group (500k members) called Macros Inc run by professional diet and exercise coaches which offers free advice on calories, meal planning and recipes.
There are a huge number of success stories posted which are very inspirational

The general advice when using Mounjaro is similar to many unmedicated diets.

A focus on protein, fiber, nutrition, reduced carbs/UPF/sugar and calorie deficit. Keeping well hydrated and if/when able some exercise and strength training to try to prevent muscle loss that comes with weight loss. Consistency over longer term is key. None of it anything new, we've all been trying it for years!

What Mounjaro does with blood sugars, metabolism, cravings, food noise, slowing gastric emptying etc etc that helps those struggling with obesity to consistently follow this way of eating cannot be replicated.

This means you will have different challenges keeping on track which might be better supported by posters going through the same outside the Weight loss injections board. The general weight loss chat board on MN can be very supportive and you are more likely to find posters who have had success without medication there.

Good luck.

You eat for nourishment only, not enjoyment hard disagree with this! I enjoy food so much more on Mounjaro, because I have it under control. I make delicious, fresh, zesty, protein rich salads and I love them. Food is satisfying and not a battle now.
