Need some advice about starting weight loss on MJ

I am new to all this, I have never been overweight in my life, but after two pregnancies in a short span of time, I am 2 stones heavier than my original weigh which isn't shifting. I used to be 58 kilos but now at 73 kilos. I am desperate to shed this weight.
My issue is that I am still breastfeeding and baby is 8 months old.
Looking for some advice on when to start MJ and things I need to consider. Will be speaking to my GP soon. Thanks

It's not recommended if breastfeeding unfortunately

No, I would never be using a WLI whilst breastfeeding. Your child is only 8 months, give yourself more time to lose weight slowly and reassess once you are no longer breastfeeding.

I don’t think the GP will be able to advise or help as the requirements for Mounjaro on the NHS are that you need a v high BMI, over 40, and at least 4 specific weight related conditions. So you’d be looking a paying for a private prescription. You’d qualify for that if your BMI is over 30, or 27 for some ethnicities, or 27 if you have a weight related health condition.

The advice is to have stopped breastfeeding before starting Mounjaro. There’s no evidence that it’s safe to take (for baby) when breastfeeding so prescribers will ask you to declare that you’re not breastfeeding, as it’s not a risk that needs to be taken.

You will have to wait until you finish breastfeeding (and please don't finish breastfeeding earlier than you would have wanted to because you want to get onto MJ. It can wait).

If you are in the UK, don't bother with an NHS GP, they won't be able to help you.

As others have said, there is a risk of mounjaro passing through breast milk so you will have to wait. It may not be an issue but it has never been tested on pregnant or breast feeding women in clinical trials so unknown risk and you will have to start it after you have finished breastfeeding.
For a prescription you can research on www.monj.co.uk for the different providers available and prices etc. It won't be prescribed on nhs at your weight unless you are diabetic.
Work out your bmi using the nhs bmi calculator to find out if you would be eligible for a private prescription.
