BMI 28 with raised cholesterol

Hi all so recently went to see GP as part of my HRT prescription they did a set of bloods which found my testosterone to be low and my Cholesterol to be raised at 5.79. I am 5ft 2 and weigh just over 11stone. I am getting fatter since starting HRT and struggling to shift it, never used to have a stomach and now it all goes on belly. Like many reducing calorie works for a few days then I give up and over eat. My Dad and Gran both died young of heart disease so want to lose the weight before it is too late, I am 48.

I know that with this BMI and raised cholesterol I may be eligible for WLI however none of the websites give a clear figure of what they consider to be raised cholesterol. Some of the sites also state low testosterone as an eligibility.

Has anybody with a high cholesterol but lower BMI got any idea what figure they used to qualify them?

TIA.

I don't have any personal experience of this, but the easiest way to find out is to fill out the online forms for one of the providers, and see what evidence is asked for, if any. Presumably your recent blood test results are available to you, perhaps via the NHS app, or via your GP's online systems, so you could do a screenshot of the results as evidence. Or sometimes the online providers ask permission to access your summary NHS records, and they would presumably be able to check your blood test results themselves.

High cholesterol would probably make you eligible, never heard of low testosterone being a category, most people don’t get theirs tested, in my experience NHS GPs are still rather limited in prescribing testosterone, but that a whole other subject to moan about 🤣.
You could fill in a consultation form for one of the many private WLI providers and see if you get approved, I would imagine you would as long as you can evidence your condition.

If you have raised cholesterol you qualify with a BMI of 27. I used SheMed and qualified this way. They did do a blood test which verified the raised cholesterol. I’m hoping to lose a stone and get it checked by my GP. I’m also being very careful with what I eat.

Thanks for the replies. I had private bloods done by the Newson clinic so have them to hand and the GP repeated them a few weeks ago. A couple of providers have listed low testosterone as a possible eligibility criteria but i think I'll be ok with the cholesterol readings anyway.

There are 5 cohorts to be eligible and you have e to meet at least 4;

  • dyslipidaemia (abnormal fat levels in the blood)
  • hypertension (high blood pressure)
  • obstructive sleep apnoea (when your breathing stops and starts while you sleep)
  • cardiovascular disease (heart and blood vessel disease)
  • type 2 diabetes mellitus
I’ve not heard In work that high testosterone will be eligibility for it.

Sorry just re-read I thought you meant eligible on the NHS not privately. I think like other posters have recommended fill in a form online for a prescriber and see what they say.
