Considering starting

Moring,
Im really considering starting the jabs in a week or two, once I'm off work for the school holidays. I think its a good time to start, in case I'm ill, tired etc.
Like many people on here I've struggled with my weight for my entire life. Up and down (mostly up!) since my teens. This year, I've put on a stone and am really feeling it. Im 12.7 stone at 5ft4 and feel awful.
The thing is, I'm quite healthy and have a lovely life because, I feel, I have my health. Im active with the kids, go to the gym, go out with friends etc.. Im so worried about compromising that just because I want to look better.
I've tried to find out about the long term health issues but there doesn't seem to be much research, yet.
Has anyone felt similar and found anything that helps them overcome their worries?

Thanks

I found that thinking about the health benefits of losing weight was more relevant than thinking about looking better. Whether that's mental health benefits or the definite physical benefits of not being obese.

There are no long term health issues that Mounjaro causes that have been identified yet. There are for being obese, so it seems like a straightforward risk benefit analysis to me.

Yes, i agree.
I suppose, if I was feeling the effects of being obese more, then I'd probably be clearer in my head that its the right thing to do.
Mind you, if I keep going as I am, I will soon start feeling even worse.

Think I'm just scared. Im a tip top worrier and over thinker.

If your weight has been steadily increasing over time and you are now obese, and you are finding it a struggle to lose weight consistently for long periods of time then WLI are definitely a consideration. If you think you could lose the weight without their help, then that’s also worth a try first as it’s cheaper and has no risk of any side effects (assuming a sensible diet and exercise plan).

It was a much more straightforward decision for me as my BMI was 50 when I started on Mounjaro.

I was worried - I’m a classic overthinker. I’ve lost 2stone, I’m fitter, my mental health is so much better. Limited side effects only. I really wish I’d started it sooner.

just give it a go. You can always stop if you are getting the side effects.

I'm like you op with similar statistics. But I have got co morbidities (high blood pressure and diabetes in the family). I know I'm already giving myself health issues with those problems which would be improved by weight loss. But I feel guilty because I would also like to look better as well as not worry that I tipped into pre diabetes or actual diabetes. But it’s ok to want to look good as well isn’t it? Overthinker here too.

Then there's the financial cost.

Thanks all
I can never seem to make a decision easily. Im fairly (ish) fit, in that I can excersice, play with the kids, have fun and I don't want to do anything to compromise that.
But I also realise that losing a few stone would be so good for me and may have a really positive impact on my overall wellbeing. I can't seem to do it by myself because I am a total greedy guts.
My the thought of injecting chemicals seems scary.
I think maybe just need to look at it as medicine.

I dont think its the side effects that bother me so much (although I'm sure that's awful if you get them) because I can just stop the meds.
It's more long term problems that haven't been identified as the drug is so new.

I would advise not to get too excited at first, I’m obese and had to stop because I was sick fifteen times during the first three days. But I do recommend it as I lost a stone in less than two weeks. I am micro dosing now hoping I won’t keep being sick.

just to say, they take around a month to get out your system completely.

Crikey! That's terrible. Im not sure i could carry on with it if I was that sick.
