More erratic weight loss on 10mg

I’ve just taken my 20th jab, started in Feb this year.
Starting weight was 16 stone 4, currently 14 stone 2. Goal weight around 10 stone, so still 4 stone to shift.
I’ve proven to be a relatively slow loser, averaging about just over a pound a week. Don’t get me wrong, I’m more than happy that the weight is coming off, albeit slowly. I would not have been able to keep this up without MJ.

I’m currently on 10mg -this is the first time I have felt that the dose is ‘right’ for me - very few side effects and food noise has all but gone. I’m just going about my day eating healthily and getting my steps in, but since I have been on 10mg my weight loss has stalled.

For the last month my weight has yo-yo’d by a couple of pounds up and down. No change from me in my habits, I’m drinking water like it’s going out of fashion and eating protein at every meal.

Has anyone else had this? I know that the overall trend is downwards, although this morning I’ve put on a pound again. It’s just a bit mystifying when I feel like I’m on the right dose for me.

I’ve attached my Shotsy graph so you can see the difference at 10mg.

Fantastic weight loss. My understanding is that when you weight plateaus you need to reduce your calories again, because your bmr is less because you are carrying less weight. I could be wrong! I lost 3 stone on SW (miserable year of my life) then plateaued- gave up for 6 months, put on 9lb and started mounjaro 5 weeks ago. I’m losing at a rate of 1-2lb a week! Constipated as hell!!

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 10/07/2025 08:42

When there is less of you to move around your TDEE reduces and you need to recalculate in order to maintain the same calorie deficit. I've lost a very large amount of weight (9st) and my TDEE is on average 900-1000kcal less unless I have a very, very active day now.

InfoSecInTheCity · 10/07/2025 08:54

what the others have said. The first bit of weight is more consistent and higher losses per week, then it slows. You’re body adjusts to your new deficit and tries to stabilise.

you have to just keep going, make sure you get plenty of water every day and recalculate your TDEE every stone lost to reduce your calories a bit.

I’ve attached my week by week so you can see that sometimes there are periods of no or low loss but if you just keep going ultimately it keeps trending down.

Thanks guys. I have recalculated my TDEE and am eating within them - I don’t have a lot of wiggle room as am only on 1200 cals and 5’3” as it is but I’ll try and drop it another 100 or so.

Am just surprised as 10mg feels like the perfect dose so I was expecting things to even out rather than jump about so much.

I think that I’m currently at a weight that my body has stuck at in the past for a long time, on the weight gain journey, so it may be that it needs to reset at this point and make sure it doesn’t want to sit here for a few more months!

I really wouldn’t take your calories down too much tbh. If you are feeling good effects from the 10mg, I would say to just be patient. Your body is just having a pause and normal service will resume when it is ready.

Something to consider as well is the current temps. If it’s hot where you are, your body will be retaining water. I’m 4lbs heavier today than I was yesterday and that is clearly water retention! 😂

One thing people have tried though is to eat MORE for a few days and then drop back down again to kind of jolt the system a bit. I’ve never tried it but I’ve seen numerous comments saying it works!

Don’t let it get you down. Time and patience is the key to this whole game!!

HoratioBum · 10/07/2025 13:49

Thanks @IReallyNeedThisToWork I have tried calorie cycling but it doesn’t seem to work so I’m just plodding on. You’re right about not reducing too much, the scales are going downwards, just not in the straight line that they were a couple of months ago so I’m unwilling to restrict too much or I’ll have no energy. Water weight is a fair point but this has been going on for a month now, so unlikely.

I have no idea how people I am following on insta are managing it tbh - consistent losses week on week even when they are nearly at goal weight and you’d think should be slowing down a bit ( I know comparison is the thief of joy, please don’t come for me!!)

I find that when my weight loss plateaus for a month, (as it has several times during the past 3 and a half years) the answer has been BOTH to decrease my daily calorie allowance by 100 AND have a couple of days each week of eating the same amount of calories (1800) that I will need to maintain my weight loss once I reach 67kg which will take me to the holy grail of BMI 24.9. (down from 160kgs BMI 59.5 in February 2022)

I've learnt from experience when if I restrict my calories for longer periods my metabolism goes into starvation mode. I start to feel cold all the time, my hands and feet turn into blocks of ice, and weight loss grinds to a halt.

It seems counter intuitive to eat "normally" for a few days on a weight loss diet, but I have found that it works, and has the added benefits of reminding me how much I will be able to eat once I reach my target weight, while also making it a lot easier to keep going.

Puppylucky · 10/07/2025 19:06

I'm finding exactly the same on 10mg. It feels like the best place for me in terms of manageable side effects and appetite suppression but weight loss has slowed dramatically. Just got to trust the process I guess!

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 10/07/2025 19:44

I do highly recommend having a second data source to keep you going through these patches, whether that’s a tape measure, clothing, or body composition scales. I’m very close to goal and was in a stall according the scales for the whole of June but I could also see that my trousers have been getting steadily looser (to the point where I returned a pair I’d bought in the sales as they are autumnal and I realised I wouldn’t actually get to wear them) and my scales tell me that my body composition is changing. I’ve lost fat and am smaller overall even though I hadn’t lost mass.
