Will Mounjaro work for me?

Hoping for some advice that will push me to take the step in ordering.

I am nearly 14 stone at 5ft4 so am into the obese category on BMI ~32.

I am a classic binge eater, just eat mindlessly all day long. I can’t say I am even hungry, I just eat for no reason. I have zero will power and despite really wanting to lose weight I just can’t stop putting food in my mouth. I work from home so just constantly wander to the kitchen and eat anything I can.

I’m worried that as I don’t actually feel hungry when I am constantly eating at the moment, that the appetite suppression won’t actually stop me from binge eating.

Was anyone else similar and can tell me how it worked or didn’t work for you?

Thank you!!

I think it can definitely work for you. The medication works on appetite suppression but also crucially fullness signals or satiety signals. Also that type of mindless eating I believe can be at least partially driven by out of kilter blood sugar levels and mj helps with that also. Good luck.

Yep, in all likelihood it will. Your eating behaviour sounds very similar to mine before I started Mounjaro last year.

I was very lucky to get the effects straight away from the first starting dose, many people find it takes longer for it to start to work. But I just stopped constantly eating, it was like it just wasn't in my mind any more. Thoughts about snacking just went out of my mind and had to remind myself to eat at mealtimes. It was a very welcome change and has enabled me to go from BMI 50 to BMI 29, and continuing to lose.

For my whole life, I would just eat and eat and eat. No self-control, whatsoever. I would continue to stuff my face, even when I could barely squash in any more food. I thought about food constantly. I started Mounjaro about 9 weeks ago and it all stopped, within hours, like flicking a switch. I have lost just over 2 stone (about 5 more to go) and the food silence is wonderful. I have to make a list before I go to the supermarket, otherwise I'd wander around a bit, buy a bottle of water and wander off, rather than buy dinner. I used to whizz around Waitrose, merrily chucking armfuls of biscuits, cakes and crisps into the trolley. Now if I go in to buy tinfoil, then that's what I buy, and nothing else.

It's definitely worth a go, @puddingpie88 .

You sound quite similar to how I was before MJ.
i was just over 16 stone at 5’8 with a BMI of 35.
Fast forward 3 months and id lost about 3 stone, and now 9 months in I’ve lost over 5 stone with a BMI of 23.6 (roughly, can’t remember the exact stats but it’s thereabouts).
I was a mindless eater, would wander in to the kitchen to do something, eat 2 packets of crisps and a kitkat without being hungry and wander off again without doing what I set out to.

I just don’t think about food at all any more and it doesn’t occur to me to go hunting for snacks. I basically eat lunch at about 1pm and dinner later on. No snacks, I don’t want them.
i’m intentional about the meals I choose,
prioritising nutrition and food I know will benefit my body. I’m not interested in crisps or biscuits at all and never eat them at all anymore because I know that eating them will
probably make me lose my appetite for a properly nourishing meal later on.
