Anyone here had a tummy tuck after success on MJ ?

I lost 5 stone with a sleeve gastrectomy 3 years ago (NHS tier 4 protocol) but remained at 15 stone despite a 7 day a week gym obsession and a PT.. started MJ in April 24 and reached goal in November (BMI 22.5) .. waited six months on maintenance to ensure it was real .. but couldn’t really enjoy my 11st loss as body was mostly a size 10 but midriff still an 18 with all the excess skin around tummy . Took the plunge and had abdominoplasty last month .. it’s not easy but wow .. anyone else ?

No, but this is my plan! Where did you go?

WhatTheHalleBerry · 07/07/2025 03:54

110lb loss but don't want to have any more surgery, I would love a 'mummy makeover' TT and BL but am just too nervous to do it.

uggmum · 07/07/2025 06:40

I had a tummy tuck 6 weeks ago.
a full FDL with muscle repair and lipo.
I lost 5 stone on weight loss injections. Ozempic and then mounjaro.
I had surgery in the UK. My surgeon was amazing as was the care I received.
i am thrilled with the result.
I had 5 pounds of skin removed. Also lots of fat sucked out.
my stomach is now ridiculously flat and sculpted.
my scars have healed really well and I have had no complications.

justsaxy · 07/07/2025 07:21

@uggmumthats brilliant! What was the recovery period and how painful was it?

JunklessTrunk · 07/07/2025 07:37

Would anyone mind saying how much they paid? I’ve had a tummy overhang most of my adult life, worse after pregnancy, and I’ve lost 17.5lbs on mounjaro so far so I’m anticipating it being by my knees by the time I’m done 😁

uggmum · 07/07/2025 08:16

@justsaxy my recovery was ok. Although I would say that it is still in progress.
I spent 2 weeks totally resting. Getting up every hour for 10 mins to walk around. Had a drain in for 4 days. After 2 weeks I had a gentle walk outside every day. I couldn’t stand fully upright until about 5 week post op.
now I have mild discomfort. I massage my stomach daily and have special cream that I apply to my scars multiple times a day. I was back at work after 2 weeks. But I work from home. Just needed more breaks.
I haven’t lifted anything since surgery and cannot return to Pilates until 12 weeks post op. Managed a city break last week and walked approx 18,000 steps day. Had plenty of cafe stops.

uggmum · 07/07/2025 08:19

@JunklessTrunk mine cost £10,500. This included all consultations, the operation. Hospital stay, all food in hospital. All medication (great pain meds) after care. 4 subsequent appointments
and compression garments.
I had exceptional care throughout

uggmum · 07/07/2025 08:24

@JunklessTrunk mine was an extended procedure though, full FDL, muscle repair and lipo. (Including mons lift and lipo in that area). Prices started at around £7k depending on the level of procedure required.

JunklessTrunk · 07/07/2025 08:25

Thanks @uggmum! Best of luck with your continued recovery.

uggmum · 07/07/2025 10:12

@JunklessTrunk Thank you 😀

notapizzaeater · 07/07/2025 16:05

Ooh, I’m just getting to thinking about this, I’m 10.5 stone down - I’ve tried laser tummy tuck and it’s made a difference but not enough IYSWIM

Slimagain · 08/07/2025 19:02

I had mine in Phuket Thailand . It was £3750. I had a hip to hip and something called vaser liposuction that meant I didn’t have to have the vertical cut as well despite quite a bulgy uppper tummy. I did a lot of research, maybe 6 months or more to compare costs , check out surgeon registration, experience, training .. reviews etc. My after care was exemplary.. follow up visits every other day for 20 days.

It’s not a walk in the park.. especially if like me you need your muscles sewn back together. However the pain was managed well. The only downside was I could only look at the beautiful sea for three weeks as not allowed in the water until day 21. It is so so worth it. Now ALL of me fits a size 10. and for the first time in 20 years I can tuck a shirt in - rather than let it hang down in the desperate hope it disguised my fat - and then my excess skin.

if I can work out how to do it I will send a before and after..

Would love to see a before and after. This is something that I would love to do - although I am mid 50s so not getting my belly out publicly, but would like to do it for me.

Slimagain · 09/07/2025 10:31

@SevernWonders I am 63 !! Definitely did it just for me.. although my significant other is a big fan despite being quite negative about it prior to the Op - but think that was more nerves than anything. Just attempting some photo manipulation now ..

I'm expecting to want something. I'm 5 stone in but 5 more to go.

Already my baggy arms are bothering me, and my thighs are looking baggy on the inside which I hadn't expected.

I MIGHT get away with it on my belly although my apron was fairly pronounced so it's not certain by any measure. It's currently better than I'd expected, so I'll take it.

My jowls are a mess but I'm less bothered about all of that than my arms actually!!

Redlightbulb · 09/07/2025 12:41

I will likely want to get something done as well.
An extended tummy tuck at least.

I am 40.
6 stone lost (5 of that on MJ)
4 stone to go.
It's taken me nearly a year to lose the 5 stone so I don't envisage getting anything done until a year from now.
I would also like to hit the gym & build up a bit of muscle first.. so should really start on that soon.
The UK prices for multiple procedures is scary.

PearlsPearl · 09/07/2025 19:56

I dream of hitting 10 stone weight loss and having a tt but more pressingly I want a mons lift and lipo. Mine makes me feel sick.

Slimagain · 09/07/2025 23:24

@SevernWonders
Here you go.. it took a while I’m not very tech savvy !

Can’t see any photos yet but I’m pleased you’re happy with the results!
I don’t want surgery, I’m quite happy with how I look (my body isn’t perfect but I’m comfortable now in a bikini), I’ve lost 5 stone,
exercised throughout my journey and to be honest yeah I would look objectively ‘better’ with a smoother stomach I’m really pleased with how much flatter and neater it looks with just the weight loss.
I’m not against surgery at all, I’m a huge wimp myself and can’t even bring myself to look at a bruise 😂 it’s just not for me!!!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 10/07/2025 07:23

I'm 4.5 stone into an 11.5 stone loss. I cna already tell I will have so much stomach at the end and already have flabby arms.

I would love to do what the OP has done. We are just about affording mounjaro so not in our budget at all we are relatively low income. But I genuinely would love it and see why those with a large loss do it! I end up looking at threads like this as I will be the "before" picture to try and accept where I will end up!

Gettingbysomehow · 10/07/2025 07:33

You look fantastic OP. I could do with one I've lost 5 stone on MJ. My tummy is completely flat but I have lots of crepey skin left over. So I just need skin removal no fat sucked out.

Tohaveandtohold · 10/07/2025 09:32

You look amazing Op, the difference is clear. Really glad it’s worked for you.
I finished with the jabs on Feb, lost over 3 stone, I’ve now lost 4 stone in total. I also have a flabby tummy in comparison to my toned body (have 3 children so can’t escape it really ) but the abs workouts and weight trainings are making such a difference. I can’t afford surgery and I’m scared of surgery generally but I’ll give it at least a year to see if I should consider a laser one. All the workouts I’ve been doing are all making a difference and when I wear a waist trainer with fitted dresses, you won’t even know I have lose skin on my tummy it all looks good with clothes on.

Slimagain · 10/07/2025 10:34

I have to say that it wasn’t an easy choice. I was still debating if I was just being v selfish and vane , even whilst I was lying on the operating table about to have the anaesthetic. (That was weird in itself as in the UK you are anaesthetised before you get into theatre but in Thailand it’s all done in situ !) Then the next thing I knew I was lying in my hospital bed not able to move a literal muscle. (most tummy tucks involve the re-attachment of the actus recti muscles) so that any move .. any . uses you freshly attached ‘core’ . So quite painful but manageable. Those pics are one week before op and 2 months later.

I’m having a tummy tuck later this year but it is part of a diep flap breast reconstruction after cancer so am having it on the NHS. I have lost 3st on the jabs and am hoping to lose another 2 before my surgery.

how was your recovery OP?
