Have a got low blood pressure?

I know this isn’t the right place to ask for medical advice but it’s the weekend and definitely not serious enough to call 111 and I live alone with my young DD and I know there’s a wealth of helpful info knowledge out there amongst you guys! So just a bit paranoid and looking for a bit of advice before I can get to the GP to get it checked. I’m on my third week of 2.5mg MJ. No other medical conditions other than my bmi started out at 30. Tbh I don’t think I’m eating enough (prob around 800 cals a day, no carbs other than fruit or veg and v little sugar). My BP has always been low naturally. But healthy low. Always seem to get a ‘wow, you’ve got such healthy low blood pressure’ when it’s checked (probably cos I don’t exactly look like an elite athlete 🤣). I’ve never had any other symptoms until I started MJ though. In the last week I’ve been feeling very lightheaded & dizzy on and off and in the last few days been passing very little urine. I know that sounds like dehydration so I’ve been trying to get 2l of water in a day. Today though it’s got much worse. Woke up very nauseous, threw up my breakfast and felt so weak and tired I had to go back to bed, slept for 2 hours. Now feel dizzy, very weak and tired and my head feels very fuzzy, can’t concentrate etc. haven’t managed to eat very much today but trying to drink as much water as poss. Does this sound like low blood pressure? Dangerously low? Or am I overreacting? I’m just worried about being alone in the house with my v young DD in case something happens to me! Will make an appointment with GP on Monday, just wondering if I’m overreacting now and just need to keep drinking water and chill out a bit about it!

Up your calories you are not eating enough.

ScratCat · 05/07/2025 16:49

I’m have low BP, but no symptoms as such. Sounds like you might have low blood sugar as you’ve not eaten much.

Musicaltheatremum · 05/07/2025 17:05

You're not eating enough. Have some carbs. At 800 calories you can easily get a decent amount in to give you some energy. Google low carb diet side effects!

It's low blood sugar especially if waking up with it, mounjaro lowers blood pressure and sugar. You definitely need to eat often with mounjaro to stabilise blood sugars, even if its snacking or small meals, in fact little and often avoids the side effects of sulphur burps etc after big meals. If you've thrown up look at what you eat, most common triggers are heavy carbs or oily, creamy, greasy or fatty foods.

A grown adult, you should not be eating 800 calories. Way way way too low for you Mounjaro or not.

PinkArt · 05/07/2025 21:36

Take Mounjaro out of the equation for a moment, if another adult told you they were eating 800 calories a day and they were feeling light headed, what would be your conclusion? You need to eat. Yes your BP might have dipped a bit too low but it sounds more likely to be low blood sugars from now eating enough.

You sound dehydrated , water is not the right thing to drink when already dehydrated as it just flushes out more electrolytes. It is very dangerous to get that dehydrated ( based on symptoms ) so either go and get checked out for probably an IV drip or get hold of some diahoralite and sip some made up double strength. If no diahoralite available Google St Marks solution and make some rehydration drink up

blunderdul · 05/07/2025 21:48

I’m not sure why you would think it’s BP related when you are clearly not eating enough.

ForPearlViper · 05/07/2025 21:53

If you are over 40 your pharmacist will give you a free blood pressure test. If you are younger you could buy a monitor and pick it up tomorrow from somewhere like Argos. They are exceptionally easy to use.

I would do any one of these two things and also take advice given above before ringing your GP.

Thanks for the advice :) I ate steak, sweet potato chips and veggies for dinner last night and had some dioralyte and went to bed at 8.30pm and that seems to have sorted things out. Got a bp reader off Amazon too but as some pps suggested I think it was probably low blood sugar and I should up my calories
