Vomiting for 48 hours after first dose

Hi ladies. I started MJ from a valid company online however after my first dose I vomited 24 hours later and then vomited 3 times around 48 hours on from
first dose,

my other medication doesn’t absorb that quickly so I had to double dose which I really didn’t want to do but I could see the tablet floating around in my vomit.

cant take anti sickness meds due to my other meds doctor has advised me to stop taking MJ but they were GP so not a specialist and only spoke to me for 5 mins on the phone as GPs do. I am due for an operation next week and I had pre op with ECG two weeks ago. GP said I couldn’t have anti sickness meds due to ECG too but not sure why?? She sounded huffy when I asked and said it was complicated to explain. At that point I just said ok I won’t take anti sickness meds.

i am wanting to lose 2/3 of my bodyweight and waiting list for gastric surgery is over two years

anyway should I stop with the mounjaro? I don’t know what to do. Lost 5 pounds in two days but that might just be because of the vomiting

If a doctor has advised you to stop taking it, then stop taking it. No one here is going to be able to advise you better than a doctor who has seen your medical records.

Maybe after your operation once you’ve recovered you could look at restarting Mounjaro, or trying Wegovy instead. With input from your various doctors.

She said I might have to stop taking it so unfortunately I will likely do that. I had only been sick once when I contacted her I was surprised she said that after only one episode. It was the duty GP, not my one.

I don’t think I’d restart I can’t go through this sickness again, just so disappointed as I have so much weight to lose

Generally, if you aren’t tolerating a medication and find the side effects to be difficult to handle then the obvious step is to stop taking the medication. It’s an obvious thing for the doctor to suggest.

If you are having an operation under a general anaesthetic soon you really can’t be constantly vomiting prior to it.

I’m having it in a month. I genuinely thought I’d get over the side effects and vomiting was normal but I’m guessing not

You might find Wegovy to be different, as it works slightly differently to Mounjaro. Just a thought.

Anyway, I’m sorry you’ve been unlucky with side effects so early on.

OneGiddyRubyViewer · 29/06/2025 01:25

Thanks guys I will probably just wait for it to wear off (does anyone know when that will be) and quit taking it. I’m so disappointed :(

Sorry, you said you had an operation next week in your OP.

Hmm I’ll see. It was such a lot of money for me to use on Mounjaro. Any hormonal contraception makes me puke too so maybe these jabs work on the same thing

Sorry I mistyped. It’s next month on the 30th

If you need a general anaesthetic for the op, then you probably need to stop taking MJ anyway. Ring the hospital and check with them, but it normally needs to be stopped at least a week or two before any operations.

If cleared to restart it again, you could try starting on a lower dose, so counting 30 clicks, and not turning the pen all the way up to 1. Then gradually increasing dose dose each week until your body can handle a 2.5 dose. It's not how it is prescribed, so you'd be going against the guidelines, but sometimes that helps with side effects.

I never thought of this. I will contact them Monday and ask

Half of it will be out of your system 5 days after your injection. It will all be gone after 30 days, but the amount remaining will be very low for most of that time.

Once you’ve had your surgery, you could try Saxenda on the smallest dose.

Nausea is a common side effect w that too. I think anything in that drug family GLP1 just do not agree with me.
