Been thinking about the weight loss jab for a while now. Not for health reasons but I would like to drop 3 stone as deffo overweight. I’ve applied on line for Mounjaro but having seen the horror stories in the press over the last week I’m seriously having second thoughts.

Not for health reasons ?
being overweight - 3 stone overweight is a health risk -
the headlines over last few days about pancreatitis deaths ?
Far more people have died of pancreatitis that are not on jabs, than are on them-
look at the science, not the clickbait

If being 3 stone overweight means you are obese, then losing that weight is for health reasons, even if you also want to do so “just” because you would feel that you look better.

The recent headlines about pancreatitis are as @Bumdropssays click bait and very poorly written. The numbers of people reporting pancreatitis are actually hugely lower than you might expect, given that it’s described as an uncommon side effect in the patient information leaflet for Mounjaro. That means around 1 in a 100 people taking it might get pancreatitis. It would therefore be normal and expected to see hundreds and thousands of cases given that the there are about 1 million people taking WLI in the UK. The fact that it’s not anywhere near that is actually reassuring.

Do your research and ensure you eat properly

If sensationalist tabloid articles are going to put you off then you will panic on a weekly basis on this drug. As others have explained the recent on on pancreatitis doesn’t show any statistically significant increase in risk compared to the general population. You know what does increase any number of health risk factors? Being several stone overweight…

It takes a LOT for a medicine to be approved for general use. Like any medication you are prescribed it does have a long list of possible side effects. Be sensible, monitor, record and check in with your prescriber about anything that worries you. Step away from the tabloids.
