How to inject mounjaro?

I am starting mounjaro today.

Ive read the leaflet.

I also watched a video on youtube about how to inject. It looked very clear but then i looked down at the comments and someone had written

"You left out a vital step, you have to turn the nib to the right" something like that.

Im worried im going to do it wrong.

What steps do you do with the pen before you inject?

I follow the instructions exactly as they are in the leaflet, step by step. It’s super simple and once you’ve don’t it once, you’ll be fine thereafter. Promise!

Wipe the red seal with wipe
attach the needle
prime the pen 1-2 clicks
turn dial all the way to number 1
inject
wait 5 seconds & remove

Don’t go off comments on a YouTube video over what it actually says on the leaflet.

Can I use a 5mg pen to give half dose. Think I’d be better on 2.5mgs a bit longer

SilenceInside · 27/06/2025 15:33

Ignore random YouTube comments! Follow the step by step instructions in the paper leaflet and you will be fine.

you can - you can 'count the clicks'

You could use for longer if you wanted to, but the guidelines say 30 days from first open

I hope i did it right.

"You left out a vital step, you have to turn the nib to the right"

I have no idea what that could possibly even mean.... If you watch a proper pharmacy produced video you won't go far wrong.

Its in the instruction leaflet too. When you put the needle on, you have to turn it to the right to tighten it.

So it just means screw on the needle, strange and unhelpful way of putting it (from them not you)

SilenceInside · 27/06/2025 16:33

When you put the needle on you push and then you twist till it’s tight. It doesn’t give a directional instruction in the leaflet, other than the image which shows a clockwise twisting action. But presumably you did that, as the instruction leaflet showed you what to do?

I think in the video, she did it wrong. She just placed the needle on, she didn't screw it on properly
