How do they define high blood pressure as a comorbidity?

Just trying to see if I might be eligibile as BMI 28. My blood pressure consistently reads as elevated, often readings of stage 1. I am on the cusp of going to the drs about it but would hope to manage through weight loss/lifestyle at this stage, which hopefully WLI could help with (though peri-menopause doing its very best to prevent me)
Would that 'count' as a comorbidity or would I need to be prescribed BP medication to qualify? Do providers need to see the evidence on my medical records?
Feeling anxious about BP and weight slowly creeping up as I get older.

You are more likely to need to provide evidence with a BMI < 30.

If you blood pressure is high you should be seeing a Dr anyway as it is very dangerous to leave untreated, it could be causing damage to your brain (stroke risk), heart (heart attack), arteries (aneurysms, artery stiffness), eyes (vision loss) and organs (kidney disease). My high blood pressure was originally noticed by my optician who told me to get an urgent appointment with my Dr!

Going to your Dr and having them measure it and record on your records (if you have the NHS app) might be enough evidence to show a provider, but you need to discuss with your Dr if you need to medicate now to prevent damage and then review once you lose the additional weight. Your high blood pressure might not be weight related and might still need to be medicated, you need a Dr to advise you.

With the tightening of prescribing guidelines that go live this month you can not, and should not, be able to self declare/diagnose co-morbidities. Anyone who perhaps were prescribed before might not have been now there are new guidelines requiring more robust processes should be in place. If you do manage to get prescribed it will be because a provider is not following the guidelines.

Yeah you’ll need to be on a prescribed anti hypertensive medication to be diagnosed as having high blood pressure for WLI meds otherwise everyone wanting it for ED etc could just say they’ve high blood pressure.

Numan doesn’t ask for proof of this condition, just asks if you have or any of your family has it - so maybe take a look at them?
