What evidence would need to provide

I'm considering starting MJ and want to make sure I have everything ready to sign up. What evidence will I need to show if I also have high blood pressure please?

I have not been asked for any evidence of that, but I have had a BMI over 30 which would have qualified me for the medication on its own. The declaration of high blood pressure was simply part of my medical history information.

I suppose if your BMI is in the 27 to 30 range, then you might need show evidence of an official diagnosis of high BP. I have that information in my NHS app so could include screenshots of that if needed.

Depends if you are planning on aquiring it privately or on the NHS. If NHS you need to have a BMI over 40 and evidence of 4 related comorbidities.

If private, you just have to declare what range your BP is in. You don't need evidence, as such.

Good luck! Mounjaro is miraculous in its effects. You won't know yourself. Just eat clean and small portions and drink plenty of water (the hard part!) and you will do great.

Just received my first delivery ready to start tomorrow. I wasn't asked for proof of high BP but have a BMI of 37.9

If you’re going private then I don’t think you need proof of high blood pressure. I just had to do a video call and show my weight on the scales, they took my height and it put my BMI as over 30, so I qualified. If NHS then I’m unsure, I’ve not met anyone who’s been on MJ via the NHS.

SilenceInside · 23/06/2025 12:34

If it was via the NHS, the GP or local service would be able to access the OPs NHS medical record directly and be aware immediately of the OPs high blood pressure diagnosis. She would not have to provide any information on that herself.

To demonstrate you have high BP you would need to provide a BP reading to show what it is.

however, the provider I went to (Asda) based it more on BMI and I had to provide photos of myself & the measurements on the scales to validate what I told them, they didn’t require any evidence of high BP.

If you are going to your GP and you meet all the other criteria they will take your BP if they need it.

Goldstarlight · 23/06/2025 12:54

I had to list all my BP medication I am on.
They can check with the GP- you need to agree that you give permission, even though not all suppliers do in the end contact them.
Obviously the BP reading would be pointless if you’re on medication keeping it under control bringing the reading within normal limits!!

Some providers will ask for a copy of your summary information on your NHS app with medications shown or if in Scotland (we don't have the NHS app) a photo of a repeat prescription or medication/box pharmacy label. Others don't ask for anything other than a patient declaration.

Don't worry about it, they will let you know if they need proof and what is acceptable and it is usually fairly straightforward to provide.

Thanks all. I'm not on any medication at the moment and hoping to bring it down with lifestyle changes. It should show on my records though so hopefully that will suffice!
