Reaction to needle

I have used Mounjaro since Feb and changed supplier due to cost. This last pen I received came with needles that have caused a reaction to the injection site area each time. Was fine for all the others but each of the 4 weeks this time had irritation and swelling around the area. Has anyone found this?

Hi, yes I've developed an annoying reaction at the injection site. I started MJ in March, It was fine for the first couple of months and now it's like I've got a bug bite. Nothing to do with supplier or different needles in my case as everything is the same, and it is a listed possible side effect.

It always dies down after a few days and doesn't worry me too much.

I always get a small red, slightly itchy spot. It goes after a couple of days.

I've been carefully rotating sites, letting then pen warm up, etc, but these things don't seem to help. I've been putting benadryl cream on before and after injection. That seems to have reduced the swelling a bit.

Keep the pen out of the fridge for at least half an hour - I randomly started to get a reaction and did this, it's helped loads!

I had the same when I changed supplier ZAVA (Novofine 6mm needles) to Oushk (BD Viva 4mm needles). After a bit of experimenting with needle lengths, I bought a box of Novofine 6mm and I have had no problems since.

Different brands of needles have different lubricants/types of lubricants and it is possible to react to them.

Where did you get the alternative needles from? I've also developed a reaction since changing supplier. I've tried different length needles but doesn't seem to help. I'd like to try a different brand.

Can't remember where I bought from @IsItSnowing as it was several months ago, but pen needles you can buy boxes from anywhere including Amazon (they are not like syringes which are restricted on Amazon). If you know which brand you want to try you can just google them and find best price.

It happened to me for first 3 months on it, big, red itchy area until I let it warm up out of fridge for 1hr before jabbing. Did the trick, almost 6 months later never had another reaction and using same needles.

Yes I get a red itchy lump at injection site every time. But didn’t with my first 2 pens. So annoying. Doesn’t seem to matter what needle I use.
