Jabbers with PCOS please talk to me?

I need to lose about 2.5 stone (mid 40s) and really want to hear from people who for a long time have regularly exercised well (think 5 times a week in the gym etc), counted calories/macros etc etc but with no success until the started MJ?
I want to know if the jab has left you blown away after years of struggling or if it’s still a real slog of 0.5lb losses and stalls over weeks?
Im thinking of starting soon and want to be realistic with the burden of PCOS compared to normal people losing weight.
Please give me your thoughts!

Hi have PCOS and insulin resistance, I’ve only been on it 7 weeks but I’m 1st 7lb down and I’m hoping it will continue. I want to lose about another 3stone but it’s been life changing. No more “I NEED to have some chocolate after dinner” I can just go about my day!

I have PCOS and I'm only on week 8...I'm down about 21 lbs/9.5kg. i have struggled with diets for years, I'd be on a diet for 1-2 weeks, would lose 1lbs and then one dinner out or a social event would see me gain 2-3lbs and I was back at the starting point + some. It was impossible to keep being motivated and carry on.

It feels completely different now, it's much easier to navigate eating out (in the 8 weeks I've eaten about 10 times and I keep losing) I just feel like my body is working like it's supposed to. And even if it's slowed down now (lost 0.5lbs last week) I have now lost further 1lbs in the last 2 days ...what I'm trying to say, I'm there are ups and downs in my weight but overall it's still a downward trajectory, which is the important thing.

For me, this is an absolute magic and my only regret is that I haven't started earlier.

I have insulin resistant PCOS, had GD when pregnant and last year was diagnosed with T2 diabetes,

Mounjaro has been a miracle! I was prescribed it by diabetes clinic because I was on insulin and metformin and had cut carbs down to just green veg and berries and I still had high sugars.

Within 2 weeks on MJ I was taken off the insulin, and 6 weeks later I had dropped to 1 metformin a day, now no metformin.

I’ve lost 5 stone since Septembers had no side effects except feeling cold and been able to maintain a calorie deficit and low carb diet without massively struggling, I have to pay attention, log my food, make good decisions and not overeat but it’s so much more doable when I don’t feel so hungry I could eat my own leg all the time. Every other diet I have been miserable from day 1 to the point where I gave up because I have just felt so very very hungry constantly, and every tiny loss required a massive deficit and loads of exercise.

I haven’t lost every week, some I have gained, some I’ve stayed the same but I know that if in just keep going it will eventually come off. I’ve attached my week by week tracker so you can see how it looks.

Started in October. Lost 7st 5lbs. All PCOS symptoms have gone. I’ve gone from 3-4 periods in 10 years to a period every month since November. No side effects. Will happily stay on it for life.

Me too. Periods weirdly regular, like I can feel in my body and see on the scales when it’s coming and predict a start time to the exact day as opposed to being surprised when it happens at random points of the year. I will also take MJ for as long as they let me, if I’m on it for the rest of my life then I’ll be perfectly happy with that.

HansHolbein · 21/06/2025 17:44

@InfoSecInTheCity I’m so happy for you!

Finally something works and we can be free.

All these years I’ve felt like there was something wrong with me. I used to feel so ashamed. All those years of ‘eating less and moving more’. Now we have something that just bloody works!

I’m 8.5 weeks in and have lost 30lb. After the initial 5lb water loss it was very slow for a couple of weeks but since then I have been losing around 2-3lb a week. I’m eating low carb and monitoring my calories too. HTH.

zaicandy · 21/06/2025 18:17

marking because I have pcos and starting jabs next week

UnUnravelling · 21/06/2025 18:22

1000000% only thing that’s worked for me! 11 weeks, 40lbs down. NOTHING worked before.

I could exercise 12 hours a day and eat 1,200 calories and wouldn’t lose consistently. And I put this down to the PCOS. I don’t know how, but MJ is magic for me.

The thing with MJ is that if you eat something unhealthy or have a bad food day, you forget about it and continue as you were. Whereas other diets most people give up and think what’s the point I’ve already ruined it. Although you likely won’t crave unhealthy foods when on MJ!

Thanks for all the replies these are all really helpful! I’m not on any meds for PCOS, was diagnosed when I was 18 and basically over the years the dr never wanted to hear the struggles. Just the usual well yes it is harder for women with PCOS to lose weight, but no one really acknowledged that it was impossible!! Now, 25 years on I’m thinking this may be my chance? After I finally had children (with horrendous fertility journey) my periods magically sorted themselves out fairly regularly. Some facial hair issues but nothing awful but the bloody weight has been a struggle my entire adult life! I enjoy exercising already so that’s not an issue and I know how to eat healthily so wondering if this drug will somehow not just work on appetite suppression but on getting my body to respond to a diet? If that makes sense?
