Hi,
I write as a ‘controlled’ diabetic type 2 (rarely get high blood sugar it’s the other way) when numbers come through they are good so I’ve largely always deemed myself reluctantly on the injections for ‘weight loss’ purposes which very slow over time I’d lost 4 stone since the start of different WLI started in 2022.
I was on the pathway to remission most recent this year, been off Metformin nearly 6 months but that may be up in the air due to a non healing wound and simply talks contributing diabetes.
I’m just curious if anyone as a diabetic who pays for these injections privately what your medics stance is? Do they adjust the mmol? When it comes to blood testing time of Hba1c. Do you come off the injections for a month beforehand as my uneasiness comes in if you are a diabetic getting blooming good diabetic results due to this medication but actually not losing weight, is it a dis service knowing that primarily this medication was intended to treat diabetics.
I’m sorry this isn’t something I’ve ever had to consider but just 3 weeks maintaining the same weight (which I don’t mind maybe I’m getting other benefits alcohol suppressions from wegovy) and getting pretty excellent libre readings for blood glucose even when battling an injury for 7 weeks at a low point, I just find it hard diabetes can be dragged back into the medical arena or have I really just been masked all this time.
This post isn’t intended as well I must get this medication on prescription (I know now that isn’t going to happen) I’m just so confused I’ve even had an old work colleague post after losing a huge amount of weight, they’ve been diagnosed with diabetes type 2. My GP surgery are aware of my use from Saxenda to Wegovy, when prescribing rules allowed in 2023 I got 2 months of Victoza on prescription at a capped dose.
I have a family line of diabetics both sides. I just saw the referral a GP (one I’ve never met) has done citing I’m a diabetic with oedema so maybe you never lose the tag.
