I wish I could take MJ forever, I'm so much happier on it

I know people say you need to change your habits and mindset but I'm autistic and have ADHD. My main dopamine hit has always been food, the food noise is like a jet engine in my head.

I stopped MJ for a while and 14lbs just crept back on in no time
I stopped for financial and health reasons.

I restarted and within 48 hours the craving has gone, completely. Its just amazing

I wish my brain was just wired this way naturally. Its such a peaceful way to feel.

Why can't you? The price will come down massively

FortyElephants · 20/06/2025 05:22

I'm going to be on it forever. I'm never going back to how I used to feel about food. I hated it. I am so much happier on Mounjaro, I am a normal person about food. I am not giving that up for anyone. As Pp says the cost will come down, but if it was impacting your health that's a different concern

Mj4me · 20/06/2025 06:16

Because I have hypothyroidism and have had my gallbladder removed and last time I was on it for around 5 months I started getting an ache in the gallbladder/pancreas area and I was worried about pancreatitis. It says if you get any discomfort in that area you have to stop.

I have heard rumours of it been made into a pill for a long term maintenance dose - I hope that’s true.

I think in reality I will be on it forever, or at least restarting periodically to stay at a healthy weight

I feel the same as you , it’s so freeing not thinking about food all of the time

I am slightly worried about long long term use , and obviously it’s very expensive, but today I’m 55lb down since January- I’m even enjoying the weather despite working

this time last year I was 315lb , struggling to work and honestly thinking that I wouldn’t be able to do my job much longer because of how physically hard it was.

it’s definitely been a miracle to me .

I've been using Mounjaro for 13 months. Lost 3.5 stone. I chose to never go past 7.5mg. Im currently back at 5mg and space my doses - some weeks 7 days, some 8, some 9 occasionally 10 days. Im in no way ready to come off it.

BettyandtheVets · 20/06/2025 07:04

Reasons I want to stay on MJ forever: -

sleep apnoea - gone
joint pain - gone
anxiety - all but gone
overthinking - gone
always have a tidy house - weird but true
no longer eat ultra processed foods
massively reduced alcohol consumption

oh and along the way I happened to lose 3 stones.

BettyandtheVets · 20/06/2025 07:09

also forgot

reduced thyroid medication (presume body working better at producing)
no longer need to take omeprazole

TeenagersAngst · 20/06/2025 07:14

I’m not on it but I did listen to a podcast about it the other day and they were talking about all the other benefits that are being observed including reducing gambling addictions!

Mj4me · 20/06/2025 07:40

I feel like it somehow cures my ADHD.

In just 48hrs my mind feels calm.

When though? Its really not affordable for me. I've put it on my credit card because I was just so fed up.

Are you on any medication for your ADHD?

Disturbia81 · 20/06/2025 07:45

The unexpected side effects are amazing to read about. Who knew it would calm adhd

BettyandtheVets · 20/06/2025 07:49

Also forgot -

plantar fasciitis - gone
achilles tendinitis - gone

so if it could do something about my memory too I’ve hit the jackpot

Motnight · 20/06/2025 07:43

Are you on any medication for your ADHD?

No, I only got a diagnosis recently so maybe ADHD meds will have the same affect for me? I will definitely try them if available to me.

The pill version maybe available late 2026/2027 apparently depending upon how quickly approval is obtained. Orforglipron trials started in 2023. I think it is a daily pill though.

Hopefully any tablet will be cheaper than the pens as production will be simpler. I doubt that they will be really though until generic ones can be produced.

Fatmumslim01 · 20/06/2025 08:49

I don't have ADHD / ND but my head is so less cluttered since being on MJ (3 month exactly and 21 pound down).

Obviously there's the weight loss benefits but so many other benefits for me as well. Lighter periods, less thyroxine medication needed, less aches and pains.

I never want to go back to how I felt before it so really hope I can stay on it or similar for life!

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 20/06/2025 09:38

Talk to your GP about ADHD medication.

IsItSnowing · 20/06/2025 11:59

I'm going to stay on it forever. It's rewired my brain in relation to food and also quietened my mind generally. I like the way things work when I'm on it and I want to stay that way.
I wouldn't necessarily think that a mild pain in your abdomen is a sign of pancreatitis. Post gallbladder removal you may be getting similar symptoms for lots of reasons.
And if it was the pancreas, it wouldn't just go away because you stop taking MJ. If you're concerned that your pancreas is inflamed/irritated in any way you should get it checked out by a doctor. It's much better to catch any problems with it early than wait until you get a full infection.

That is amazing @BettyandtheVets ! How quickly did you notice the impact on joint pain etc?

supafish · 20/06/2025 13:54

I too will be on this forever , taking the slow route to weight loss . Occasional treats on holidays are totally under my control and I feel better than I have for years .

BettyandtheVets · 20/06/2025 14:17

@Fluffypiece fairly quickly there was an improvement, to me just realising today I can’t remember the last time I had joint pain. It used to wake me up in the night and I have had that for probably the last 4 months. Been on MJ for 10 months in total.

I’m a slow loser but I don’t care because it’s sustainable for me.

AmythestBangle · 20/06/2025 15:35

I also would love to stay on it forever.
Weight down
Eating junk gone
Menopause symptoms gone
Anxiety gone
Drinking and craving for drinking gone

DH keeps saying "you can't stay on this forever you know". I'd love there to be a pill so I don't even have to debate this with him as he won't know I am taking it.

I could have written this. Had one month on 7.5 and staying on 5 at the moment but spacing out doses to 9/10 days. Plan on dropping to 4 mg soon.
