I am 5 foot 7 and almost 25 stone. Always been heavy, struggled hugely with depression and have now decided to take the plunge and try the jabs. I walk my dogs lots however I am always in back pain from my stomach. I am starting with 2.5 the smallest dose and just wondered. how bad is the nausea? I am ok dealing with constipation and diarrhea however I have a ohobia of puking and hate feeling sick. Always felt sick on hormonal contraception so have the copper coil.

I’m also a bit nervous to inject.

id love to know if people on a similar size found they lost quickly and how you dealt with nausea.

they are now being posted out to me and I’m excited but so nervous

You do not have to up your dose automatically every month. Different doses suit different people.
On the 'lower' doses, I found that it was effective for the first 5 days but tapered off steeply over days 6 & 7. Also, when I injected, it was taking over 24 hours to fully kick in, meaning I had 3 days of MJ not being as effective as it could be.

So I upped my dose each month until I got to 10mg. For me 10mg worked well over the full 7 days and kicked in more quickly. I am on my 4th month of 10mg.
However, over the past 2 weeks I have been finding that it is lightening over days 6 & 7 again, so will up my dose next month.

When it is working well I am hungry at meal times, but feel full quickly, and do not get hungry in-between meals. Also, I do not feel the urge to eat, snack, hunt around the kitchen etc, & when I do drink, 2 small glasses of wine are definitely enough. For me, this is the ideal state for losing weight.

I see I have literally just started a couple of days ago so that’s interesting

I know you were naturally a bit nervous @zaicandy I hope it went OK.
(I'm a nurse, and I was still nervous before the first injection!)

How are you feeling? Your original post was because you ere concerned about nausea/indigestion? How is it going?

Have you found the June starters group?
(I'm sure there will be a July starters group soon. It just takes someone to set it up.)
The group that was set up the month I started has been so helpful as we work our way through this journey together. Really supportive and a 'safe space' for us to share our triumphs and difficulties.

I am not starting till Wednesday. I have a vet appointment Tuesday and volunteering type interview Wednesday. I know it sounds stupid but I don’t want to risk having the runs during the appointments.

i am a little bit nervous to inject the first time and find the videos on YT confusing, I am considering asking the doctor or a nurse to show me honestly.

will update when I’ve tried it

@zaicandy Hi, just get some Cyclizine from your GP. I had horrendous nausea and vomiting. Took a couple of months to settle.

But I’m someone who vomits with PMS and I had SEVERE HG whilst pregnant.

I couldn’t have continued MJ without anti emetics so if you’re someone who vomits with contraception then definitely have something ready as there really is nothing worse than relentless nausea and vomiting

I am the type that vomits with contraception, was sick everyday and the can’t take cyclizine as it lowers my seizure threshold and I’m epileptic. That’s disappointing. May just have to put up with nausea and vomiting though on contraception I ended up having to go to hospital. Thankfully I have the copper coil now.

Oh there’s loads of anti emetics you can try! When I was pregnant I was on steroids but also took xonvea, ondansetron, prochlorperazine, promethazine, metoclopramide and Cyclizine. Just ask your GP to prescribe something else :). If you get ondansetron make sure to get a stool softener or laxative as it really bungs you up

Should I ask for the prescription before I take the jabs in preparation?
