So I’m going to start tomorrow 2.5mg Kwikpen. I am going to do 15 clicks quarter dose. As I’m very sensitive to medication and I also don’t want to feel nausea as my stomach isn’t very strong as it was having had severe sickness during my last pregnancy. My question is can I then go up every week? So next week 30 clicks and the next 45? How long does MJ stay in my system? I know I’m losing some medication but I’m not to fussed as I would sooner feel better as I have three kids to see to and I can’t spend the week in bed. Do I prime the pen with two clicks then count to 15? Also I f I wanted to could I split the dose? Say I feel ok could I do the rest of the medication for the week? So the remaining 45 clicks couple
days later?

..also I have got medication for
my anxiety, Fluoxetine. Would this affect MJ?

If you are creating your own dosing schedule rather than following the guidelines then you can do whatever you want. So a quarter dose this week, a half dose the week after and a three quarter dose the week after that. I would suggest using a dose tracking app to have an idea of the levels of medication in your system eg Shotsy or DoseDiary for example.

Mounjaro stays in your system for a fair while. The half life is 5 days, so 5 days after your injection there will be half of the dose remaining. So when you inject each week the amount in your system builds as it won’t have all left your system when you do the next injection.

You can follow the paper instructions that came with the pen in order to do the priming, which is turning two clicks and then pressing the end of the pen to check you get some liquid out. Then instead of following the instruction to turn the pen all the way to the 1 position you would at that point just turn it for 15 clicks. Then carry on with the rest of the instructions.

The guidance is to leave at least 4 days between injections. I wouldn’t try to inject at different points as you will create a very up and down profile of the amount of medication in your system which I don’t think would help with your idea to try to get used to the medication more gradually than normal.

Presumably you told your prescriber about the Fluoxetine, and they would have told you if there were any interactions.

Your prescriber wouldn’t have approved the MJ of it wasn’t on to take with your existing medication so I wouldn’t worry about that.

You might find that by not taking it as prescribed you waste all of the medication not just what’s left after the 30 days as very small doses might not even work. Why not take the first dose as normal and see how it works for you? You would be risking more side effects by messing about taking small amounts and splitting the dose as well;

Doesn’t messing around with your meds and changing up the dosing schedule kind of make your anxiety worse? Especially when there’s already a clinically proven approach that starts with a small 2.5mg dose 🤔

Taking guesses and adjusting things on your own is honestly a bigger risk than just sticking to what’s been tested.

You might want to chat with your qualified provider about the anxiety, they can give you real advice, here you’re mostly going to get personal stories, and what works for someone else won't necessarily work for you.

Also, I really wouldn’t recommend injecting more than once a week on a regular basis.

Did you declare the Fluoxetine on your medical screening questionnaire when you applied ? If so and I am assuming you did it with one of the reputable online pharmacy prescribers and it was approved then there is no reason to be concerned. However you could sent your GP a message and check just to be doubly sure. You could ask the questions about the half doses as well.
In my experience the GPs aren’t at all concerned about people using MJ for weight loss. They would like to be able to prescribe it but are prevented from doing so because of Nice guidelines. They would be a lot less overwhelmed with work if weight related issues decreased within their practices. However they have all been more than helpful when I have asked questions during my journey to a healthy BMI (38 to now 22) and nothing but encouragement and practical support.
GPs know a lot about MJ they have been prescribing for Diabetes for a long while. It’s not a ‘new’ drug . Although you would think so from all the naysayers harping on about ‘you don’t know the long term side effects’. - they actually are already known . ! GLP-1 antagonists have been around for 20 years !

I take fluoxetine 80mg and I am on 5mg and feel absolutely fine! Make sure you’re drinking plenty of water and eat little and often if you’re feeling nauseous.. I wouldn’t split doses as 2.5mg is literally the starting dose. You’ll find people start splitting dosage when they move up if they feel the side effects are bad.
