Why don't people use AI to fake photos to get a prescription?

If they arent overweight enough to get a prescription, but want one anyway, why aren't people just using ChatGPT to make the photos the prescribers want?

Just wear layers and take a photo? Old school.

SilenceInside · 17/06/2025 21:40

Maybe they are. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Many places want videos or video calls instead of photos though. I’m sure some places will check photos for signs of editing, or alterations too.

There are probably easier ways to fake a fat photo than try to get something convincing out of an AI.

threeeggsontoast · 17/06/2025 22:12

The pharmacy I use asked for a full length photo and then a ‘live selfie’ where I had to turn my head to the left and the right. It would have been obvious by my double chin(s) that I’m overweight. You couldn’t fake that.

JustPinkFinch · 18/06/2025 07:03

My photo had to be taken then and there through a camera plugin on the provider's website, I couldn't add a photo I had taken earlier.

IsItSnowing · 20/06/2025 12:17

My provider does video calls now where you have to show id and stand on the scales.
I'm sure people were (and possibly still are) faking it but they seem to be making it harder to do now. Which is a good thing.

Because AI isn’t that great at generating realistic photos of people? You seem to think AI is much more advanced than it actually is. What a bizarre thread.

AI is notorious for not being able to accurately generate human features like hands/feet/fingers etc. Chatgpt is the lowest tier of AI as it is free so expect garbage from that. The more capable models are paid tools, and even those tools struggle.

Plus generally speaking, the whole pharmaceutical industry is toughening up when it comes to weight loss injections precisely to prevent inappropriate prescriptions from being issued.

Good for you !

What's your Modus Operandi (if you're being serious and want to share ?)

Or if you're being snippy on a Weight Loss Thread ..................well ,,,,,,,,,,, I know what side I'm leaning towards

Most providers specify you must wear tight clothes for your photo

People are doing all kinds of things to get access to these medications when they aren’t eligible. I’m sure some people are using AI to adapt their photos, whether or not it works well will depend on how good the prescribing pharmacy are. If people get away with lying their way through a prescription then it suggests that the prescribing pharmacy don’t care too much and are probably taking shortcuts elsewhere or making ethically unsound decisions. I would have concerns about that because while WLIs aren’t at the same level of risk as something like opiates, they are a medication that does have known and expected side effects. Those side effects are deemed acceptable for someone who is obese because being obese is in itself a huge risk factor for many health conditions, many of which are very serious. Taking the risk when you aren’t obese is a different calculation.

if the prescriber can’t be bothered to check if you’re really overweight then what’s the likelihood that they’re checking whether you have any medical conditions, family history or medications that would be bad if combined with WLIs.

My impulses/compulsions push me in the other direction, I get a buzz from exercise, have always shunned any kind of junk/fast food in favour of basic, home cooked, vegetarian food.
Apologies for sounding snippy, I think the new weight loss medications are a very important breakthrough.

pambeesleyhalpert · 21/06/2025 18:12

I know plenty of people who are doing that

Twelftytwo · 21/06/2025 18:21

Even back when I started a year ago the provider said the photos couldn't be edited in any way

"Hi, I'd like a course of Mounjaro please"

Why don't people use AI to fake photos to get a prescription?

Crikey, I was deleted for saying I dont need weight loss injections, WTF MNHQ that's offensive is it?!😂

boredwfh · 21/06/2025 19:47

I have a friend that did exactly this.. so it does happen. And also I have used a pharmacy that don’t ask for any photos at all.

But this doesn’t look like a real photo?l. It looks like it is generated by AI. Where are the knuckles? Where are the shadows, given the lamp in the background? Why does the face have a weird dark streak? It is extremely grainy as well.

GreenSpeckledFrog · 21/06/2025 19:55

I think those only just overweight should be seeking help for disordered eating or disordered ideas about eating rather than turning to serious drugs.

I do think the fact these aren't regulated enough is going to elad to a rise in rating disordered individuals using them.

LHGL · 21/07/2025 19:52

The issue I've got is after 18 months on Wegovy and then Mounjaro I've gone from 18st down to 14, my healthy BMI is 9-13, and I've now been refused further medication based on photos. My appetite has gone into overdrive now :(

KeepOnKeepingOn25 · 22/07/2025 17:21

Verification calls. Had one recently (video call) which includes photo ID proof, height and weight. Also the evidence needed for each new pen order also includes proof of height and full body photo. It will be obvious if your photo ID does not match the body photo and also agree AI does not produce convincing images of people, they are obviously AI.
