I just took my first injection of 2.5mg Mounjaro today and I’ve been thinking about what kind of impact it might have on my lifestyle, weightloss aside. Maybe less eating out, less social eating, more time to do other things because of less time spent preparing/eating meals (although will still have to make meals for my kids). Would be interested to hear what others have noticed. Also, with weightloss/eating less do you find you have more energy? More motivation to exercise?

So many fewer takeaways! If I don’t feel like cooking I’ll be happy with scrambled eggs or similar rather than feeling the need to buy a full meal.

Loads more exercise, the more weight I’ve lost the easier exercise has become so I’ve got into a real routine now.

SilenceInside · 15/06/2025 15:09

Yep, no takeaways at all, which is a huge and welcome difference. I actually cook more and better for my family as I am not stressed about how much or what I will eat.

Also more exercise for me, lots more walking and general day to day activity which means I get more done around the house. And I’m also doing Couch to 5k, so weekly regular exercise. I haven’t done that for well over a decade now.

I’m just massively more cheerful and forward thinking, I look forward to social meet ups rather than worrying about being the largest person there. I don’t hide in photos any more, and occasionally I like what I see in them!

I move a lot more and more easily. After piling on a surplus 5 stone over the last decade I'd lost sight and memory of how effortless it is to move through space when you're not overweight.

I've also realised, heading into my 50s, that I do not need 3 full meals a day. I try to stick to 2 per day, one lightish one and one more substantial one. Zero or very few snacks. If on occasion I've splurged a bit then I have to view it as a temporary setback and eat less for a few days to drop a couple of pounds I might have gained.

I've been in maintenance for a few months now and have stayed at approx 10 st doing the above (plus the gym a couple of times a week which I was doing before MJ).

Early days still but I'm hoping I've got my head around the fact I can't eat like I did under 30 without consequence anymore and probably will never be able to again.

Lifecircle · 15/06/2025 15:17

I'm looking forward to getting shot of my loose baggy tops which I've spent years wearing, finding my waist and wearing fitted clothes.
I might even be brave enough to tuck a blouse in!!!

DoreenDo · 15/06/2025 15:19

For me it's been realising (and then feeling stupid about it) that I can't eat the same as DH and it's not penis portions, but a portion adapted to me and how to have a deficit. It's been eye opening and I've dieted a lot.

I'm on holiday at the moment with a brand new wardrobe. Everything is tucked in. Just simple vest tops and shorts/linen trousers but really it's a revelation. Dealing with heat is a 100 x easier too.

TheChosenTwo · 15/06/2025 15:25

I’ve always been quite active so I don’t think that’s changed for me. I also eat out a lot (3 times since Friday) but I just make very different food choices now. I love food and I’m so relieved that I haven’t lost my love of it - just able to make healthier decisions.
I don’t feel as though I have more time to do other things due to less cooking because there are 4 other people in the house that still need feeding ‘proper meals’ (I do eat proper meals, just less and lighter on the carbs) but Dh has always done the cooking so that hasn’t really changed either.
I think for me losing 5 stone has just made me fall in love with clothes shopping for the first time in about 20 hears. My wardrobe has had a major injection of colour and I couldn’t be happier.
Most importantly though I’m so much more healthy and my heart is less at risk!

HansHolbein · 15/06/2025 15:28

It’s been life changing. My confidence is through the roof. I can wear whatever I like, from any shop. Everything looks great.

Just going about my day knowing that I now blend in instead of standing out. The feeling of freedom… I just can’t describe it.

Tons of energy. Wanting to experience things and get out there and be sociable - something I would never have done back in October.

JunoRoma · 15/06/2025 15:30

I've been on Mounjaro for more than 6 months now and the changes I've made have become habitual / second nature. I hope to stay on a low dose for at least a couple of years, if not longer.

Food and drink:
Drinking more water / herbal tea
Eating more protein
Eating more fruit & vegetables and more fibre generally
Eating significantly less sugar, fat and UPF

Exercise:
Strength training 2-3 times a week
Walking longer distances and started occasional weekend bike rides

Other:
Shorter lie-ins (sleeping better and waking up more refreshed)

In terms of lifestyle, I still go out to eat sometimes (I might have just a starter instead of main) and I have the occasional alcoholic drink. I'm a bit more active and eat a lot more healthily.

JunoRoma · 15/06/2025 15:32

I do seem to have replaced my addiction to cake and chocolate with an addiction to buying clothes on Vinted, but to be fair I've had to replace my core wardrobe four times in the last six months.

DarkForces · 15/06/2025 16:08

I really focus on nutrition now as I'm eating less so need to get my veg in. Meals are much more varied as I get mindful chef a couple of times a week. Pricey but cheaper than takeaway or eating out. Less alcohol too.

I am addicted to buying nice clothes from Vinted though!

Roxietrees · 15/06/2025 16:49

I’m very much looking forward to digging through my “skinny bag” (giant bin bag of clothes that have been too small for me for quite a few years now!) some of my favourite clothes are in there..have just been in denial about one day being able to fit into them again! But hopefully mounjaro might make it a reality

Not sure where to start!!😁

Regular gym visits have led to an entire new social group!
Just more active in everyday life - walk to the shop instead of driving etc
New evening hobbies have replaced a bottle of wine in front of the tv.
Earlier bed times due to no alcohol or late dinners leading to earlier mornings.
A passion for Pilates and yoga that have led to training to be an instructor.
Huge amounts of extra energy.

What hasn't changed - loads of eating out, loads of social eating, loads of time spent preparing and eating glorious healthy meals.

Life is pretty damn good!!

Kamek · 15/06/2025 17:35

This is an inspiring thread. Lots of positivity. Ive been thinking about starting weight loss injections for weeks now and have been procrastinating big time but I really think I might give them a go

FortyElephants · 15/06/2025 17:35

I still prepare and eat meals! Possibly even more so as I'm less likely to reach for a few slices of toast or a veggie burger from the freezer for lunch. I pay attention to the protein content of my food and plan meals to ensure I get enough. I can't say much else has changed as I didn't eat out much before or get takeaway often.

ETA I've changed my clothes style a little - bought some racer back bras and vest tops because my shoulders look really good now - muscular and more shapely now I've got less fat, so I can show off my tattoo, and I've been wearing shorts! Also bought a new swimming costume for my last holiday which didn't have a built in skirt or shorts and was quite high cut in the leg and low in the chest and felt great!!

DryDay · 15/06/2025 17:45

I’m less interested in takeaways or eating out

I make fish and veggies/ grains/ pulses a big part of our diet

I buy ‘treats’ (like ice cream) for my husband in flavours that I don’t like because I don’t want to be tempted

I exercise more days in a week than I don’t: Walking and yoga

I buy size S/ 10 clothes and everything fits me. I used to be a size L/ 16

I used to but anything that fit me and looked ‘slimming’. Now everything looks great on me - because I am slim - and I only buy what I actually love.

I’ve all but eliminated UPFs from my diet. I’d say I’m down to about 10% if that.

lifetheuniverseandeverything42 · 15/06/2025 19:40

Life changing, it has led to so many other things by way of better self care. The first thing I noticed was that I stopped biting my nails. Because it’s important to try to maintain muscle mass I’ve bought myself a set of dumbbells which I use ad hoc through the day as I work from home. I just do bits when I need a few mins away from the screen or whilst waiting for something. I barely drink alcohol anymore. I went lane swimming and took my son with me for the first time. I’ve started looking after my skin to try and minimise loose skin (body brushing and moisturiser every day and proper skin care for my face). My good habits are staring to rub off on my kids too. They see me doing exercises and copy me. I went for a 40min brisk walk first thing this morning with a weighted vest. It’s like one good think is breeding loads of other good things. I’m hoping I will manage to keep these things up but honestly some of them don’t take long and things like walking a longer route to school and wearing weighted jacket are really simple things but every little helps. I’ve only been on it for 4 weeks so early days but I’d have struggled to do these things without the help from the jab. Hopefully everything will become a habit by the time I am at target.

i still eat out but take a bit more care when im choosing what to have. I am more relaxed at the weekends and stricter during the week. I don’t order takeaways and only eat the odd bit of choc/crisps but really not much. I find eating enough protein a challenge.

I do suffer with indigestion and feel a bit sickly some days but it is worth it and I’m hoping that it will improve over time.

I could have written this. I absolutely love buying clothes now - I always did when I was much younger but haven't for over 20 years. Totally agree about the colour, too - everything was black and now I never wear black tops. I've several jackets, too, which is fantastic - I was so limited in what I could or would wear. It's a completely new world for me now.

Lifestyle changes involve: very rarely having alcohol. I haven't had any alcohol in the house for just over a year, when I was having a drink every night before that. For months and months I didn't have anything sweet - I've noticed that's creeping back in and it's something I want to stop again. No takeaways. Very rarely go out for meals now. All that save money goes into clothes!

ithinkilikethislittlelife · 15/06/2025 19:54

Me and dh have been on it since mid January and it’s been a game changer. It made switching to a healthier meal option so easy as we no longer crave the calorific junk we were eating before. I think we’ve had one takeaway since we started wli and eating out we go for smaller options. Buying new clothes has proven to be expensive though as we’ve both shrunk significantly 😊
