Any WLI that doesn't cause fatigue?

I finished my mounjaro journey a couple of months ago. I'd got to goal weight and was on a lowish maintenance dose but was still feeling knackered on the injections.

Of course, despite best efforts the weight seems to be coming back so I may have to try something else - is there one that is less likely to cause fatigue?

I’ve stayed in MJ since goal. For me that’s 7.5 mg. Have maintained at goal for 7 months. I know without it i will gain. I have lost almost half my body weight.. never going there again !! Then again. Never going there again…

GreenSpeckledFrog · 16/06/2025 04:41

@Vatsallfolks did you just stay at the dose you were on when you got there or did you titrate down a bit. I now know I'll need to be on them long term (also hoping to lose about half my body weight... I'm not there yet!)

spoonbillstretford · 16/06/2025 05:19

I've never felt tired on Mounjaro. Are you eating enough? Do you have enough iron or magnesium?

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 16/06/2025 07:29

@spoonbillstretford fatigue is listed as a known common side effect by the manufacturer of MJ.

@LoveSandbanks you could try semaglutide (ie Wegovy) but fatigue is listed as a ‘very common’ side effect and there’s every chance you would react in the same way.

What do you mean by ‘best efforts’? Are you tracking to stay within your new lower TDEE?

GreenSpeckledFrog · 16/06/2025 07:43

I'm tired on it. I take magnesium at night. It's worse when I go up a dose. I was hoping it would get easier in time...

Histoscientist · 16/06/2025 21:25

I was constantly worn out now 8.5 months into it and it does get worse higher up you go, im on 12.5mg. I also had the joy sucked out of me and no enthusiasm for anything. I read it is due to disruption of dopamine pathway. 3 weeks ago I started taking L tyrosine bye bye tiredness and no enthusiasm. I'm full of energy and happy and smiling first time since I started on it, getting through jobs with enthusiasm instead of procrastinating and laying about. L tyrosine converts to dopamine, it felt like a fog being lifted. I'm sleeping better too! I got it from amazon if anyone is interested.

endzone · 19/06/2025 07:03

Were you eating enough? Quite often fatigue gets put done to the MJ when it’s actually because people don’t fuel their bodies properly when using it

That’s really helpful thanks. I’m still on 2.5 and the fatigue is really bad. I’m always tired in a deficit but this is next level. I can push through for weight loss but was worrying about maintenance… will look into L tyrosine….

GeraniumRoseblush · 19/06/2025 08:26

@Histoscientist interesting re L tyrosine - where did you find info about it? And how long did it take you to feel like yourself again? I'm still on a low dose of MJ and have been battling this no enthusiasm/ joy has disappeared thing so anything that alleviates that would be awesome!

I got mine from amazon, I've been out all day and feel great, this was unheard of before! It helps with recovering after sleep deprivation too which has been a massive postive impact for me.

I looked up low dopamine and treatments for it. I already knew about mounjaro disrupting dopamine lowering dopamine levels so was just looking for treatments and it came up. If you look up reviews there are lots who do take it, as many can suffer with low dopamine especially after prolonged stress and I've suffered a lot in the last 6 years or so and I believe I was low in dopamine already, also due to not eating meat for over 5 years and avoiding dairy, which all doesn't help.
I felt uplifted within 1hr of taking it but consistent better energy was probably 5 days later, my mood improved that day and has stayed better since.

As for someone mentioned was i not eating enough, my calorie deficit is 1200 so I usually eat 850-1200 a day depending on appetite, but I can't eat more as I won't lose also being prediabetic makes it difficult to lose already and I'm trying to limit carbs. I'm still eating the same or even less since tyrosine and have way more energy!
Interestingly, I read that dopamine regulates appetite and involved in metabolism and body fat utilisation too and since I've been on tyrosine I've been even less hungry, even during PMT and that time of the month, which is unheard of for me. I'm also losing easier, I lost 2lbs in 6 days last week.

GeraniumRoseblush · 07/07/2025 13:50

@Histoscientist thanks so much for the info. I'm off to look at getting some as I'm getting a bit tired of feeling blue and would love to feel brighter again 🤞

@Histoscientist can you say what brand and dose you take for the tyrosine?

I would love to know too - I’ve had a look but been baffled by the various doses available- if someone else has done the research I’d love to piggyback!

Also @Histoscientist I’ve previously done Fast800 and stuck to 800 cals for several weeks - i had no problems with fatigue or low mood during that period so I agree I don’t think it’s caused by under fuelling - I’m eating more than I did during that period and definitely not feeling as well.

JohnTheRevelator · 07/07/2025 17:25

I've tried them all! I found that Wegovy and Ozempic caused quite bad fatigue, but they did suppress my appetite. I've found that Mounjaro doesn't cause such bad fatigue but I've also found that the appetite reduction is a lot less. I'm on week 8,just taken my 4th 5 mg dose, and as yet have not noticed any real reduction in my appetite. I'm hoping that when I start on the 7.5 mg next week,it will start to work.

Nicedayforest · 07/07/2025 17:39

I’m shattered today. I look in the mirror and look 10 years older. Slept a lot last night but still v little energy.

I suspect Mounjaro does affect my energy levels, possibly mood sometimes. Then it seems to pass. One reason I’ve gone up slowly in dosage.

I also currently have some rash/hives (MJ side affect) and this allergic reaction, though temporary, may also be affecting my fatigue levels.

I have another health condition so that could also be contributing. I’m going to try the tyrosine to see if it helps.

I use this brand but they have quite a few around the same concentration. I think recommended is 300-500mg a day. I wouldn't go any higher. https://amzn.eu/d/eftrSYh

Histoscientist · 07/07/2025 21:50

@Incognitoburrito88 https://amzn.eu/d/eftrSYh I use this but it says only 1 left in stock. Look for a similar concentration 500mg.
Good to know it's not specifically down to a low calorie intake. It does interrupt the dopamine pathway and if you look up low dopamine symptoms, it's definitely what most of us experience on mounjaro especially worse on higher doses.
Last night I only had 3hrs sleep for some bizarre reason, I didn't take it yesterday so it's not due to tyrosine. I've actually been sleeping really well since taking tyrosine, but a benefit of it is also helping with sleep deprivation and it definitely worked for me today on an all day course and long commute!

I've just bought this one - I shall report back. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Solgar-L-Tyrosine-500mg-Vegetable-Capsules/dp/B000US24LK

Very much keeping fingers crossed it makes a difference 🤞

Great and it's a good brand too. Hope it helps 🙏
