Partner starting Mounjaro - how to support?

My partner is about to start Mounjaro the first batch should arrive in a few days. His BMI is 40 currently. I'm very hopeful about what a difference it could make for him but don't want to be over expecting and getting my hopes up - I want to be realistic and support him in the best way possible. Anyone with experience of either taking it themselves or partner taking it have any advice about how I can support? Obviously I'll buy healthy foods etc which I do already. Is there anything else I should know about? How quickly do people find it works?

It’s very individual. For me it started working from day one. For lots of people it takes longer - each dose builds on the last, increasing how much is in your system each week. So it might be week 2, 3 or longer before he reaches a level where he gets the intended effect. So many people have super high expectations based on socia media where people report losing crazy amounts from the first week.

There are apps like Shotsy or DoseDiary where you can record each injection and it gives you an estimate of the levels of medication in your system.

Make sure he’s getting lots of good quality protein and drinking plenty of fluids, it’ll help keep him feeling full.

Thanks both! Another question...we're due to be going on holiday in a few months and had booked an all inclusive hotel. Is that likely to be a waste of money given he'll probably not have the appetite to be making the most of it? Wondering if we change to a breakfast only package or something instead. I'm not particularly fussed about being a foodie on holiday myself.

Your partner will still be eating, just smaller portions. So I'd do whatever is easiest/most convenient/enjoyable for you both, and just accept that your partner will be eating less. The only caveat would be if the all-inclusive food isn't particularly suitable or flexible, but I am assuming there will be choice and that some of the options will be healthier/low fat/high protein etc etc.
