Weightloss injections and Type2 diabetes......

Just wondering if anyone can help........ I've got Type 2 diabetes and am on Metformin tablets.

I try to follow a low carb 'diet' but am not really losing any weight so looked into weightloss injections.
I applied to an online pharmacy who said they couldn't give me the injections due to my diabetes and I needed to see my GP.
The local pharmacy I went to gave me information but also said they needed permission from my GP in order to start the injections.

I rang my GP surgery and explained this and asked for a routine appointment to discuss getting permission............ GP told me I may qualify on the NHS for weightloss injections so sent me for blood work at the hospital - however I don't as apparently my BMI is lower than the criteria for the NHS.

So I feel I'm back to 'square one' and still don't know how and where to access the weighloss injections - any advice would be appreciated.

I have T2 Diabetes and my GP prescribed injections. My BMI was just over 27, so I was overweight but not obese.

My understanding is that the criteria is that your HBA1C level must be high even with 2 medications. I was taking Metformin plus Jardiance and still couldn't get my HBA1C down. I've been on injections for 6 months now and my HBA1C reading has dropped down to pre-diabetic. I'm hoping to get it into the normal range by the time of my next test.

If you're only taking Metformin I think the GP has to try you on an additional medication before WLIs can be prescribed.

What is your BMI?

ASDA refused me a prescription because of my type 2 diabetes. Which I found annoying since GLP-1 drugs were developed to treat type 2 diabetes, but they set their own rules.

I found that both Voy and Oushk did not rule out prescribing to type 2 diabetics, perhaps because they have prescribing doctors who really know their stuff and are able to weigh up the risks and advantages?

So if one online chemist refuses you it is well worth asking one of the many alternative registered suppliers listed on https://www.missmounjarouk.com/

At MissMounjaroUK you can follow my weight loss journey using GLP1 medication. I share my highs and lows and also show price comparison charts using Registered UK Pharmacies.
