Mounjaro with no gallbladder

Wondering if anyone who had their gallbladder removed prior to starting Mounjaro has noticed any side effects? I had mine out a couple of years ago and get pain a couple of times a day still which isnt great but I live with it. More recently the pain has been constant and similar to when I needed it removed. I’ve seen my doctor and they just said it’s likely PCS and should go away. They don’t think it’s linked to Mounjaro. I don’t have any other symptoms.

Has anyone else had any issues with this?

I had my gallbladder out last year and continued to get pains for a while afterwards. My surgeon did and MRI to check for any stray gallstones or other issues and there were none. So they put it down to gastritis which he said should settle down over time. It did and I'm fine now.
It's a known side effect of gallbladder removal apparently. Googling, I found quite a few people who were suffering with similar.

Thanks so much for replying. I had a scan not too long ago and no stones showed up so I highly doubt it’s that. I’m hoping you’re right and it settles soon. Yesterday I was doubled over in pain all day and oramorph didn’t even help, but now it’s mild and bearable. Can I ask if you got or still get pain after certain foods? I had some chips the night before so I’m going to put it down to that. But I’ve had other foods with fat in including butter but perhaps because chips are greasy? Obviously I will just eliminate greasy food from my diet for good as I know it’s not good for me anyway. I was just scared it was because of the Mounjaro but doesn’t sound like it is.

When I was first diagnosed it was worse after fatty foods. My surgeon said to eat only foods less than 3% fat until it settled down so that's what I did. I was too scared to eat anything fatty to be honest.
The pain was incredible, like a gallbladder attack. I actually ended up back in A&E because they were worried it was something serious. But all the tests suggested otherwise.
They initially treated it with high does Lanzoprazole and I still take a reduced dose but that is because of ongoing acid reflux which has nothing to do with MJ or my gallbladder op.
All this was long before I started MJ and I've not had any problems since starting it. I do still try to eat low fat but I'm not so scared of it anymore and I do eat the odd higher fat food with no symptoms.

My surgeon gave me no aftercare advice so I’m going with what I’ve researched. Thought it would be a bit better now it’s been a couple of years! Yes the pain is the worst pain I’ve ever had. Much worse than childbirth.

Pleased yours has settled. I wonder if we are at a higher or lower risk of developing gallstones with MJ? I know some providers reject if you have no gallbladder and I’m not entirely sure why.

I had my gallbladder removed about 20 years ago, the pain was crippling. Give me child birth any day.
I started mj on 21st of May. First jab felt tummy pain & bloating straight away but put that down to having a pizza & being gluten intolerant. Pain continued for a couple of days, also had bad trapped wind & couldn't burp so lived off antacids & gabiscon! Week 2, had jab & no pain that evening or the next couple of days so I thought I would be ok. On the third day I got woken early with tummy pain. Went for a wee & thought if I still had it when I got up I'd take some gaviscon which I did. Pains got steadily worse as the morning went on & I also started getting severe nausea & diarrhoea & kept going clammy. The pain was in the middle upper abdomen just below my sternum & was as bad as the gallstone attacks. DH phoned 111 who sent an ambulance out. I had to go to hospital as pain was over pancreas area & was given morphine. Blood tests came back ok so was sent home. Same happened Sunday night, paramedics came out but said no point in going to the hospital as bloods were all OK. Jab 3 Wednesday night. Felt a bit of bloating almost straight away but was ok on Thursday. Around lunchtime Fri I started feeling poorly again & from 4.30 till 11 had explosive diarrhoea, extreme nausea & the same pains again. I was home alone as DH was away watching rugby & by the time he got home it had subsided. Cue Saturday night & once again crippling pain in my abdomen.
I really don't know what to do. I can't keep putting my body through this every week as the pain is off the chart but due to rheumatoid arthritis severally limiting my mobility meaning I've piled on tons of weight I honestly thought these jabs were my last chance to finally lose weight & feel good about myself.

Sorry you’re having such a hard time. I too have bad side effects from MJ but I can live with them. My side effects are definitely from the jabs as it’s the same pattern each week. So the nausea and vomiting I take Cyclizine x3 a day on the days after the jab as this really helps. I make sure I am near a toilet whenever I eat as within mins of finishing a meal (or sometimes even halfway) I get the cramps and sweats and have diarrhoea. I do have IBS so it could just be that MJ exacerbates this. The diarrhoea hasn’t gone away however the nausea and vomiting has reduced significantly. It’s took a few months and I never thought it would ever subside. The burps have calmed down too.

What I can’t tolerate is the pain. Like you it’s exactly like a gallbladder attack that is continuous. Does your severe pain coincide with the injection? Is there a pattern? Have you kept a food diary to check if something is triggering it? Or do you think it’s a random flare up? I would seriously consider getting a scan done to see if you have gallstones
