New to Mounjaro - Advice on BMI

Hello to everyone. I have just started taking Mounjaro after months of deliberation. I am 56 and the heaviest I have ever been. The past few years have been difficult with dealing with caring for a dying parent, a parent with dementia and other things. Emotional eating and drinking has taken its toll and I am now at the stage where I don’t want to go out, see people, go on holiday as I am so ashamed.
My question is - having started with an eligible bmi of 35, will I still be able to continue to use Mounjaro once my BMI gets to 30 or below? I’ve only stupidly just considered this. I had assumed I would be able to stay on it until I reach my goal weight/BMI.
Can anyone please clarify?
Many thanks.

Yes of course you will be able to. That's the point of the medication, to enable you to get to a healthy BMI. You can continue to take it whilst at a healthy BMI if you need to as well, many providers will continue prescribing assuming your BMI doesn't fall too low.

If you check the information from your supplier, email or website, they should explain what their specific policy is regarding lowest BMI that they will prescribe to. It's usually around 23 or lower for most places.

Sorry to hear you have had a bad time recently, I wish you all the best.

As the above poster said, your BMI will drop to below 30 as that's the aim. When you get to a weight you're happy with you'll go onto a maintenance dose for as long as you need.

Not all providers will support a maintenance dose for life (medexpress is 2 years with a min BMI of 23 I think).

The website monj.co.uk has a maintenance section where it tells you the criteria of different suppliers. I switched to Oushk while I was still above BMI 25 as I didn’t want the hassle of trying to switch provider later (I think you’d need to have a video call etc if you were already at a “normal” weight).

There are quite a few maintenance pharmacies. I know I need to stay on long term. Have a look at the monj maintenance page that another person linked.

I called and asked my supplier the very same question and they said as long as I don’t leave longer than a 2 week break I can continue on the treatment.
so my hope is that I’m actually able to lose the weight And then to stay on a low maintenance dose. That’s all in the future though.
I’m going to start the 5ml in two week’s time
Good luck to you

Thank you for your reply. Can I ask how long you were on the 2.5 dose? I’ve literally almost done my first week and am finding my feet.
