To continue on monjaro or not

Hi looking for people opinions.

I started on monjaro 11 weeks again and have lost 1st 8ib, I felt this has been slow compared to those I've seen in tik tok but am happy with it regardless.

We started TTC for our second baby over a year ago and sadly had 2 miscarriages. We have paused whilst I'm on monjaro, thinking losing weight wouldn't hurt.

I still have around 2 stone to lose but the longing for another child is still there. My first DS is 4 and I'm conscious of the age gap.

Would you carry on with moujaro and lose the rest of the weight or come off and TTC again and accept the age gap is what it is.

I am so sorry about your losses. I know how tough it is.

22lbs in 11 weeks is a good loss and not slow and don’t compare yourself to tiktokkers. That way insanity lies!!

Only you can answer your question as only you know what is right for you and your family. I think in your shoes, knowing how strong that yearning is, I would stop now and TTC. Mounjaro will still be there for you in the future if you want it.

Good luck with whichever path you choose.

Honestly TikTok is such terrible content. Your weight loss has been absolutely fine. An average of 2 pounds a week is top end of expected weight loss, especially because the first 4 weeks on 2.5mg don’t produce weight loss for everyone.

I would have thought you’d planned to take Mounjaro for much longer than 11 weeks originally? To lose 50 pounds altogether (3st 8lbs) you’d have been looking at around 25 weeks or so. So another 14 weeks or so, which doesn’t seem like very long in the scheme of things. You could maybe continue until you’re just into a healthy weight range rather than further into the middle of the range. Then continue with your weight loss strategies whilst waiting a month or so for the Mounjaro to leave your system.

How old are you? What is your current bmi?

ChristinaB1203 · 05/06/2025 15:50

I'm 29. My BMI is currently 33. Though I don't believe in BMI at all.
I've also been seen very recently by gynaecologist and had scans etc and no reason found for my miscarriages.

You have already improved your statistical odds and would improve them further if you are closer to a healthy weight. For the sake of just another 6 months or so, I personally would continue with Mounjaro for now. What real difference would just 6 months make to the age gap.

For what it is worth I have brothers 6 and 10 years old than me, never saw it as an issue.

Good luck whatever you decide.

It’s such a personal decision. I would stay on it a bit longer but you’re not me.

Yeah, I'm swaying more to just waiting until September and seeing where I am then.
I know in the grand scheme of things 6 months isn't long. I guess when we TTC over a year ago we had an 'ideal' age gap in mind but that wasn't to be.
It's the age gap that bothers me, even though 4 years isn't a great age gap.
