This is not new news - it’s explained to anyone starting the drugs. They slow down digestion and therefore affect the efficacy of oral meds. It’s not new news and if you’re buying from a listed pharmacy, they’ll ask you if you’re on oral contraceptives and advise you to change methods. There’s also already at least on thread on this.

Thanks — totally agree it’s something people should be told at the start. I just thought it was worth flagging again since the MHRA has now issued a public alert for the first time and the number of real-world pregnancy cases seems to be rising. Medical advice has escalated to a public alert. Sometimes even with the right advice, people forget or assume they’re not at risk.

Sorry didn’t mean to have a go at you, just getting a bit tired of constant scare mongering in the media!

I find it interesting that many people are surprised by information that is told to them repeatedly when ordering, which is on the patient information leaflet that comes in the box with the medication and in the advice/support content available from most providers.

This is what baffles me as well!

I am not against the press repeats, as it does seem that people ignore std info.

You only have to listen to those who claim not to know about pension credits, pension age changes, COVID vaccinations, common scams.

Yes, bored by the number of times I get told about the dangers of something simple like Ibuprofen when buying the bigger box, but they quite rightly are doing their job.

Antibiotics also can interfere with contraception, and we are warned.
