Is this right for me?

So I finally steeled myself to step on the scales and i have put 2 stone on in just over a year.

I know exactly why, life has been a nightmare with my husband dying and frail elderly parents. I have coped, but I have started eating, and at times drinking too much. I've pulled the drinking back under control, and I know how to eat healthily.

My BMI is now over 30, but I wouldn't say I have food noise in my life, but I want to loose this weight. (for reference I am 5'3" and 12 stone 8lbs, and 59). Nothing fits and I want to feel better about myself.

Would the drugs be an answer - or do I buckle down, eat well, and exercise......as I know what behaviours I have changed to make this difference.

I’m so sorry for your loss @ProudFriend. Be gentle with yourself, this must be such a painful time.

I am 5’3, 60 years old and started MJ a month ago at 12st 7.5. I have lost a good amount of weight so far and, more importantly, I have found the motivation to make myself and my health my number one priority.

So far I have no regrets, but it seems to be a very individual experience so can’t really advise. I would just say be kind to yourself and give yourself all the help you need.

Hugs.

Just to add, to get the best results, you’ll need to buckle down, eat well and exercise on a MJ programme too - it might just be a little easier.

You've had a very tough time, OP. I'm sorry for your loss.
I am a similar age, and started Mounjaro two months ago because I'd put on two stone in a year and was feeling fat and uncomfortable. I'm two stone down now without particularly trying and I'm feeling much better.

So sorry to hear of the awful time you have been through OP.

Mounjaro has been nothing short of miraculous for me, however as @AbundanceofKatherines says you do need to knuckle down and exercise and eat healthily - the drug is just a tool to support you in doing so.

I think Mounjaro works amazingly for people who have been obese for a long time and who have given up on being able to lose weight. We are the ones who have caused damage to our bodies through long term obesity and really need medical help to lose it. If you've gained weight fairly recently then yes you could probably lose it fairly easily if you put your mind to it. But really, if you can use medication to make it easier why shouldn't you?
