I always like to get a visual of what may be a good weight for me or if im an anomaly. Im just over 5'5 and 9st10 and I still have fat back and mum tum, probably need a tummy tuck 😫 My ribs are starting to show on my chest - I wish it would come off the belly! I dont want to go 'too far' but lowest weight for my BMI is 7st13 yet people call me 'skinny' now (but by comparison I guess!).

Weirdly, a slimming club leader once told me I didn't look my weight, as a compliemt, when j was 13stone. I feel ive flipped that around now, like im only so light because its come off slender parts anyway like chest, face, lower limbs!

You first. Photos are generally not done on MN (we have more sense). Lots and lots on Facebook groups if you want to look.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 30/05/2025 00:36

Are you on wli? Or hoping to take them?

You're already at a perfect weight for your height. Don't see "lowest weight" as a goal, especially if you were previously overweight.

Maybe think about some exercise?

JellyStarb · 30/05/2025 07:08

I've shared a well edited photo. Yes im on WLI, ive lost 6 stone. Im at where I thought would be my goal but its not right yet. I didn't really want to lose much more but the remaining tummy still carries fat!

Go to Reddit people share photos on there all the time.

Candleabra · 30/05/2025 07:59

Do you do any exercise?

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 30/05/2025 08:23

If you possibly can, see a physio or PT who specialises in postnatal health and get checked for a diastasis recti. I had one for nearly seven years after DC2 and had no idea until it was properly diagnosed. I'm now doing specialist Pilates with my physio to heal it.

Sorry, I value my privacy and won't share photos here. Seconding the recommendation to look on Reddit.

DarkForces · 30/05/2025 08:43

I'm 5'3 and down to about 10 stone 8. Here's my body scan at that weight. I started at about 14 stone in Nov.

I'm a bit shorter at 5'4 and feel happy at 9st and a size 10. Are you exercising?

BookishType · 30/05/2025 08:59

I’m the same weight as you but a bit taller at 5’8.

Like you, I thought I’d be happy at this weight. I look slimmer (started at 13 stone 6), but I still have a fat belly and I saw a recording of a presentation I did last week and all I could see were my back hamsters 😂 Before I had children, I weighed 9 stone (or less) and I think that’s what suits me best.

So, I’m still on MJ, trying to lose weight and tone up.

TheyFuckYouUpYourMamAndDad · 30/05/2025 09:02

Where on earth have you got the j formation that your lowest weight for 5’5” is 7 stone 13??

On NO height/weight chart I’ve found (and I’ve just looked at many, NHS England, NHS Scotland, UHB NHS Trust etc) and you would be CONSIDERABLY underweight with a BMI of 18 at this weight!

cathyandclaire · 30/05/2025 09:06

The bottom range for a healthy BMI is 18.5, at 7 stone 13 and 5'5 the BMI is 18.47 so very close to the lower end of the range. 8 stone would be around there but it is not considerably underweight. Obviously different people have different frames and the healthy range is there for a reason.

Look at My Body Gallery https://www.mybodygallery.com/

how you look will depend on your body shape etc. If you want to target a certain area you’ll need to use weights imo, it’s the only thing that has improved the way I look and feel.

what I find difficult to understand is that in my teens and twenties I looked good at 7st 7lb and felt fat at 8 st. Now I don’t look good at any less than 9 stone and aim for 9st 7lb at 5’3”. I am now in my sixties.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 30/05/2025 09:13

@VelociraptorsVelociRapping I have this too and although I’ve lost weight I look pregnant from the side as it sticks out so much. Would you say the Pilates is working? Is it likely to actually heal?
I didn’t know specialist Pilates existed to help this. Thanks :)

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 30/05/2025 10:20

I think too with a weight loss journey we can become unhealthily obsessed with bits of our body and critical when it might be healthier to adopt "acceptance" and to move on from focussing on the bits that we see. Sort of body focussed counselling or something.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 30/05/2025 10:21

I'm saying this as I will end up with lots of loose skin if I get down to a healthy weight and finding this hard in my head and I think acceptance of our bodies once healthy has to be the way to go rather than craving after an ideal. I'm sure that's not healthy.

apostrophewoman · 30/05/2025 10:50

I’d say your weight is fine but you need to do some exercise and tone it all up, swimming, exercises classes, some weights. You need lifting and toning! Swimming will give you the fastest results.

Yes, it can always be improved but it’s really important to find a Pilates instructor or PT with specific experience as traditional ab exercises like crunches can make it worse.

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 30/05/2025 18:56

I can see your photo now, OP (I couldn't earlier). What exercise are you doing? Have you had children?

BigTumSad · 30/05/2025 21:42

I'm am inch taller than you, and a stone lighter (I'm 5ft 6 and 8stone10).

My belly is still big! Though no excess back fat anymore really.

I want to drop another 6 or 7 pounds. I think my BMI is still in the healthy range, so I can afford to do that.

If you aren't happy with your current weight, keep loosing! But I share your frustration! My boobs are now tiny, I have skinny legs, slim arms and a v slim face! I just wish my goddam stomach would slim down!!!!!! Why is it so hard to shift the belly??!!!

I’m 5ft 5 inches and 8 stone 12lbs. I wear 8/10 clothes. Have a fairly flat tummy. Not sure if that helps. If I exercise less-just short brisk walks- I can go up to 9st 5lbs over a few weeks. It’s noticeable.

Wildgoat · 25/10/2025 08:05

op, how we feel about our bodies and our personal weight goals is very individual, some people I’ve seen on line want to remain in the overweight category, ie bmi 26-27. Some want to go to lower low to middle of healthy ie bmi 20, it’s a personal choice.

i mean this politely, but i think what’s missing for you is exercise, you could be lacking muscle tone, and may have lost a lot of muscle if you’re not been strength training throughout. So right now I’d not focus on the scales, but body recomp and rebuilding muscle if that’s the case.

Yep.
Your weight is fine, your body is fine / doing what it needs too.

If your goal is health, eat more protein and fats, get a body scan and work on upping muscle in your body comp.

MeridaBrave · 25/10/2025 17:12

I’m 163cm, 58kg, size 8, age 51. Good levels of muscle. According to my scales I’m 14% bodyfat I think that’s that’s an underestimation.

ThePure · 25/10/2025 18:58

From the OP photo improving your posture would work wonders and getting into lifting weights to improve muscle mass (contrast with MeridaBrave’s pic it’s the muscle that is making the difference) It might be a mistake to lose more weight as it can just wind up with a ‘skinny fat’ look that a lot of people are describing. More protein and getting into lifting will make a huge impact.
