Pleasant, but unexpected side effects e.g. reduced inflammation

I’ve gained a lot of weight since getting long covid. This can be whether I eat a very low calorie diet for weeks or think “what’s the point” and eat what I like. About a third of the time I also lose weight, even if I eat the same. My body is not behaving rationally! I’m tempted to take the weight loss jabs to see if they can somehow help with some of my other symptoms. What are pleasant but unexpected side effects people have had and has anyone taken them with long covid and did it have any impact on symptoms? I am bedbound now a lot of the time, having previously been very active and can only tolerate very limited exertion (eg a five minute walk), which obviously doesn’t help with weight. It’s been several years now and I’m desperate!

IBS gone after 30 years. Within the first week, so not down merely to improved diet. A miracle.

I would do anything for this to happen to me! I've got all my fingers and toes crossed!

I really hope it works for you, @PearlsPearl

Hmm, it sounds as if everyone should take it, though it would be strange for those who are underweight, to take weight loss pills.

I have three different types of arthritis and noticed a huge improvement in the symptoms from the inflammatory one. I think it might be partly the MJ but also the greatly improved diet too, with far fewer sugars and carbs. I hit goal weight in January and have been off MJ completely for 3 months now and the reduction in inflammation has remained, which is a huge result.

I also have IBS and that disappeared on MJ. I was really worried it had returned when I initially came off MJ and it did flare up but it has settled again. It is not as good as it was on MJ but it is much better than it was before.

I mentioned this to at my diabetic checkup. The nurse looked at my confused! My arthritic hands and feet aren't as painful as they used to be considering I used to be on tramadol/oral morphine for the pain.

My (undiagnosed) IBS has also got a lot, lots better.

My feet are also less wide!

My sister completely stopped drinking, and she was a wine every night person. She wasn’t expecting that as she considered it a completely separate addiction that she would have to conquer but she just totally went off it. She’s a bit worried about when she stops

My knee pain has gone. Weirdest (and best) unexpected side effect for me was that after biting my nails my entire life, I’ve just stopped! Tried everything in the past and now I have long and strong nails.

That was what I was going to say. I’ve only been on it for two weeks and I realised yesterday that I need to file my nails as I haven’t been biting them. I’m going to get the polish out and give myself a manicure. I think they even feel a bit stronger than usual, they are normally really bendy.
