Stopping Mounjaro cold turkey at 10mg

Hello all

I wanted to document my experience of stopping Mounjaro without titrating down from 10mg to 0.

I started Mounjaro in October 2024 and I weighed about 106kg. I found out I'm expecting our second DC a few days ago and of course planned to stop Mounjaro immediately. I am currently 79kg - this means I am still in the obese BMI category. The plan was to lose a further 15kg and look to maintain. (And then begin TTC).

I was due to take my dose of Mounjaro tonight but have skipped it and all excess medication, sharps bin etc have been taken for disposal at my local pharmacy.

I'm very nervous about what will happen in terms of my self control and appetite. I think I could have done better in terms of setting myself better habits and goals but I thought I had more time given I had 15kg left to go.

Wow! Following as interested and thinking of doing a similar thing. I'm 77kg but only looking to lose a further 5kg. The willpower to reach for the right food must be there - and keep up the fluids!

Congratulations and good luck. Being pregnant will bring in a cocktail of hormones so will be different to a non pregnant person going cold turkey. Try not to worry about the weight gain and focus on nutritious food and eating enough as you are growing a child!

So I would've taken my next dose the Friday just gone so technically I'm two days overdue my Mounjaro.

I've certainly felt hungrier. But not ravenous. And I'm able to eat more than when I was taking the injection. However, definitely not as much as I used to be able to eat before I took Mounjaro in October last year. I'm sure my stomach has shrunk in size a little so maybe it is physically full and I just can't eat the same quantities anymore.

I'm trying to be mindful of what I eat and I have noticed that I am making better choices and have better self control eg. stopping when I am full and not eating everything in front of me.

It has a half life of 5 days and stays in your system for upto 30 days, from other users who have stopped it, it's usually 3 weeks later that the full hunger returns.
Would be great to have an update from yourself on here as I am close to my target but then I was prediabetic so different too!

Oh that's interesting to know. I wonder how much of my hunger is a mental thing knowing that I'm not on Mounjaro anymore. Or indeed maybe just pregnancy hormones!

You'll definitely feel hungrier as it wears off, it probably is pregnancy hormones! Your body will be making you hungrier to eat more, especially if you've been losing weight. I wonder if you will go back to craving the same foods you used to eat. Hope the pregnancy is all going OK 😊
