Came across this review for shemed

Do you have to go up dosage?

No you don't have to move up doses, but many pharmacies expect that you will and can be a bit resistant to you not following the standard dose schedule.

Shemed are one of the more restrictive pharmacies. This is their Ts and Cs page:

https://my.shemed.co.uk/terms#4-important-information-about-our-services

You'll see that in section 5, point 1 they say

"You must:

  1. follow any instructions our SheMed team member gives to you including in relation to dose instructions;"

So it's there in their terms, but I think some people don't read them or don't understand what they mean fully before starting.

No you definitely don't have to
I never got past 3.75 mg...and happily lost 2.5 stone.
I used medexpress who never questioned my prescription

Theredjellybean · 17/05/2025 22:41

They want you to go up as the higher doses make them more money

Think it's £99 first month and than £159

I have been with Morrisons and Oushk and have stayed on 2.5mg since March (so far).

SilenceInside · 17/05/2025 22:44

Shemed are fairly expensive and far too controlling for me. I would not consider using them.

Mysticmaiden · 17/05/2025 22:51

I'm sure Shemed are doing research trials so that's why they want you to move up, so they get their data

SilenceInside · 17/05/2025 22:53

The research trial started in Jan, the review is from May and talking about being 5 weeks in, so I don’t think that person could have been on the research trial. Their terms and conditions apply to all their programmes, even the standard one that isn’t the clinical trial.

Thanks but I'm not sure how accurate it as, I've clicked on a few and prices different

@butteredradish1 if you’re looking at the discount price list, you will only see that price when you’ve entered the discount code at checkout. The price the companies quote on their website are without any discounts, and are shown on the Retail price list on the Monj site.

So chemist4you has a decent price but are all the doses £30 of?

@butteredradish1 it’s your first order that has the £30 off discount for Chemist4U so it doesn’t matter what dose you’re ordering, as long as it’s your first order with them. Obviously you wouldn’t get the £30 off for any subsequent orders with them.

SunnyDaysAllDay · 18/05/2025 07:47

I’m with Chequp and with them, you get an email reminder each month and you can choose to either stay where you are or move up. I picked them specifically because they have that in their Ts and Cs.

It should definitely be guided by you, the person who is injecting it into your body!

SlipperyLizard · 18/05/2025 07:55

How do you decide whether to move up? I’m due my third 2.5 injection tomorrow and have good appetite suppression (not total, but enough for me to control my calories easily), am thinking of staying on 2.5 but what if it wears off/stops being as effective?

I have decided to stay on 2.5 because I am losing 1.5-2 pounds per week with it and don't think it would be healthy to lose weight more quickly than that. I can eat around 1200-1400 cal and have energy to exercise to burn around 2400. In particular, I am worried about the increased risk of loose skin that would come with a quicker rate of weight loss.

I will move up if my progress grinds to a halt but I am quite happy on 2.5. I haven't really had any side effects (apart from possibly weird lucid dreams/nightmares) and I feel 2.5 is enough for me at the moment to just take the edge off dieting without feeling nauseous etc. I still have to rely on a little bit of willpower to not eat chocolate etc. but I don't think that's a bad thing. It just feels more like what I imagine it would be like for a normal person to be on a diet (whereas before dieting has always left me absolutely ravenous).

Everyone will make their own decisions though - this is just my thoughts.

Not necessary at all. I am still on 5mg and won't be increasing my dose because it's still working well for me. I did one month at 2.5mg then moved up to 5mg and have just ordered my third 5mg pen.

SlipperyLizard · 18/05/2025 09:23

Thanks @AmateurNoun I feel the same, I don’t want total appetite suppression as I’m strength training and don’t want to struggle to get nutrients. At the moment it is exactly how I feel when I’m able to diet, but without the risk of falling off the wagon at any moment and with less desire for alcohol (which is great!).

I will stay on 2.5 for the next month & see how it goes.
