Fight for injections if I lose work

Hi,

Does anyone know who I’d need to appeal to for weight loss injections on prescription? is it the ICB integrated care board.

or find out how soon they may reduce the price down to current nhs prescription price if a recent newspaper is to be believed.

I was a type 2 diabetic, lost 4 stone in weight very slowly, then taken of Metformin for 6 months which may have been the wrong thing in hindsight and the injections may have taken over as diabetic medication leading to a tricky situation and possibly just a spell of bad luck on top which may change my life for the worse and be subject to putting the weight back on due to inactivity.

Hospital are saying crack on with the injections they are safe, there has never been a greater need, etc etc when I spoke to the current physical pharmacy I was purchasing from they urge holding back but have divulged they have just me and one other on Wegovy - Mounjaro is more purchased by the market.

Hopefully I can keep my income or be awarded PIP (but I’m unsure about that) and this just becomes hypothetical.

If you were prescribed them for diabetes it is reasonable that they change medication as long as your diabetes remains under control really ?

I paid for them since late 2022 as thoroughly understood it to be postcode lottery and as the medics put it really help myself. The attitude that has come across is we’re pleased we operated on you at 16 stone as opposed to nearly 20. This really gave you a much better chance, twice now for wanting of doing something, anything other then be op fit.

When I have been looking at weight times for different services I see nearest hospital weight Management as 18 weeks, which is pretty good better than a Suffolk hospitals plastics dept at 57 weeks. 🙈

BMI was still in the early 40’s post weight loss.

We can’t get a straight answer apart from this incident may put you back to diabetic and leaving it up to the GP/primary care to sort. Even though I’ve disputed the weight loss changed my body able to bring my foot up to top thigh so would have looked after any cuts or other issues so I’ve no idea.

Been told ongoing oral antibiotics 4 times daily (which I’m now moved over to) are going to need meals/some form of food beforehand and I’ve got restricted movement whereas before I knew to keep diabetes in remission I was able and recommended to walk every day.

Have you seen your GP and asked? It's a postcode lottery but my husband insisted I speak to a GP before starting as he was scared of me just buying jabs online (it was from an online pharmacy and all fine but he didn't know that).

My GP said I would be eligible if I were diabetic. I'll pm you about your ICB and I'll look into it.
