Advice on starting please

Hi everyone,

I'm considering starting weight loss injections - I did consider it a few months ago but had a family bereavement/ number of other things that meant it wasn't the right time. However, I'm now in a better place and the success of a number of colleagues/ friends with them has made me want to revisit the idea as part of a wider attempt to improve my health.

Having looked at effiacy rates I've decided that Mounjaro is probably the better choice and wondered if anyone had feedback on the various providers, please or any tips on who to avoid? Ideally, I think I would prefer to have a programme of some sort alongside and so had been looking at things like Juniper.

Any views very much appreciated, there's so many choices I think I'm getting a bit lost in it!

Ive never used the suppliers who offer support as I found most questions could be answered on here (although I understood it wasn’t a medical professional answering) and personally didn’t think it was worth the extra cost.

Here is a table of reputable suppliers who offer support and the price including new customer discounts. You can change suppliers anytime you want to take advantage of the offers.

monj has a lot of other information too so worth having a good look on the website.

If you choose not to have the extra support, click this link for prices discount codes are applied already and shown on the far right of the chart. Again all reputable suppliers with links to trust pilot etc.

Good luck on your journey

I'm really sorry about the bereavement, I'm here if you want to talk about it over PMs. I lost someone close to me too and it's so awful.

I think from feedback I've seen, something like juniper isn't worth the extra cost, apparently a lot of the time you're talking to bots.

When you look on social media the algorithm shows you extremes, so extreme weight loss and extreme symptoms. I've been losing 1-2 lb a week and I only had symptoms on week two and they were no worse than when I was pregnant. I feel normal on mounjaro whereas before I had horrible insulin resistance. A jacket potato at lunch would give me such a crash all afternoon and I'd wake up with a headache next day.

Just remember that mounjaro isn't a crash diet, you still need to eat. It's ok to be hungry and to eat when you're hungry because thin people get hungry and eat. That's how it should be. Personally I don't track calories because I don't overeat now. I just eat when I'm hungry and stop when I'm full. I don't think about food the rest of the day, and it doesn't feel like a diet to me.

In terms of providers, the cheapest I've found is simple online pharmacy. They price match everyone else so you can find the cheapest price on monj with generic discount codes and they'll match it. They processed my order within 2 hours both times and I had it via DPD next day.

The best quality provider I've found is Livewell pharmacy. You can call them and a pharmacist answers the phone, they were really lovely during my videocall and made sure I knew what I was doing. They also processed my order same day and I had it next day.

I've gained all the weight back after a diet in the past so I know I need mounjaro long term for my PCOS/insulin resistance. Livewell pharmacy and a few other pharmacies support you long term which is why I like them.

Remember as well that local pharmacies sell mounjaro now. A few people just go to their local independent pharmacy. I nearly went down that road, lots of the pharmacy staff were on mounjaro too and it would've been a better service in person. My local one said it's £150 for 10mg but you get regular check ins, no awkward photos or videos because they see you in person.

I’m in a similar boat as you- just about to start. I’ve decided to go with a “supportive” type supplier for the first month or so, in case I need more help. Then once I’ve worked out how I cope on it I’ll move to a cheaper supplier. I’ve just signed up to Voy today. They did 25% off for the first month, which made it pretty competitive.

I’ve gone with a friends suggestion to med express, but I see now, it might not be very cheap. Just waiting to be accepted.

I was wondering on how to approach my diet, I can eat healthily, I just have to watch my husband, who will come in with takeaways and chocolate if he thinks im dieting.

And also have some will power.

Im pleased I eventually found a thread of people new to this

All the prices are on monj. I wouldn't go with medexpress personally.

Your friend suggested medexpress because they get a £40 voucher when the refer someone. It's so unethical.

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 16/05/2025 15:47

@AlmostLate have a look at the May starters thread as there will be many people just starting out like you!

AlmostLate · 16/05/2025 16:22

Thanks for the advice, I actually can’t get med express to accept me, as they won’t accept my photograph. All of my clothes are dark and baggy. And that’s not acceptable for them.
Is this normal practise,? I can understand a photograph to prove ID, and ID these days, but they won’t have a full length photograph taken today because of the colours of my clothes, which are all without fail dark coloured.

Honestly try Livewell pharmacy, they were fantastic with me. They do a videocall and I just stood back from the camera so they could see me but showing the scales was also an option.

SilenceInside · 16/05/2025 16:27

Are you only just into the 30 plus BMI range @AlmostLate ? Could you use hair clips/ties to make your clothes more figure hugging? You might experience the same issue with pharmacies that want photos, which is many of them.

AlmostLate · 16/05/2025 16:31

I think I must be very far over the 30 BMI mark. 🤣 I’ll check. Yes very far past 30
Also Livewell. pharmacy appears to be well out of my area

Most of us are getting it from online pharmacies but you can also ask your local pharmacy. Even my tiny village independent pharmacy sell mounjaro now.

SilenceInside · 16/05/2025 16:43

Honestly @AlmostLate , I'd bin MedExpress off, cancel and look at any of the others on the Monj list that are the same price or cheaper. I've used Zava and Pharmacy2U both of which are cheaper at the moment, also Asda.
