Feeling weak

popdepop · 05/05/2025 10:22

Week 7 day 2, 5mg. Other SE have eased. I have hit a plateau and only lost 1 lb last week. I'm feeling weak, as in no energy, arms feel weak, legs do too and eg feel weak getting up the stairs etc any advice please? I have electrolytes and eating chicken, eggs, natural yoghurt for protein. Always in calorie deficit, so I'm dissapointed it's slowed down.

How many calories are consuming and what quantity of carbs are you eating?

Feeling weak sounds like maybe chronically undereating? Also if you are chronically eating too little, that could lead to the weight loss slowing down.

I think i am eating too little. 800-1000 calories per day and very low carb, no potatoes, bread etc

Why are you doing this to yourself? Try and run a car on water instead of fuel and see how far it gets you.

You need fuel (carbs) for energy.
Carbs are not your enemy Poor nutrition is. Fats also provide long term fuel.

I have a headache today too, probably as I've not eaten enough. Is there any quick fix in the meantime to help? I'm going to eat more today

A plateau is usually defined as 4 weeks with no weight loss.

You need to adjust your expectations and be patient. After the initial higher weight loss in the first weeks losing 1lb, 0lbs or even small gains are all normal - the overall long term trend will be downwards.

It is not a quick fix. Over many weeks/months all these little one pounds add up to significant weight loss.

You need to eat more. No wonder you are feeling weak.

Eat and hydrate today and hopefully you will be feeling better soon.

Why are you taking electrolytes? You say you don't have any SE, do you work out a lot, dehydrated or are there other reasons you feel you might be short of electrolytes?

If you are struggling to eat with high suppression get the calories in with snacks such as mixed nuts.

Eat more and drink lots of water/squash. You don't need electrolytes daily unless you have vomiting or diarrhoea. I use half a tablet twice a week maybe.
Have you tried an a-z multivitamin as your calories being low may not give you the complete nutrition you need. B vitamins will help with energy. Omega 3 is good for the brain and memory too.

Thank you. I've been laid up all morning. It is 48 hours since injection and think it's just wiped me out. I have slight nausea and headache has eased. I've eaten more and had some almonds and a crumpet. Drinking water, constant supply next to me. I'll stop the electrolytes. I bought them after terrible diahorrea a few weeks ago.ill order some multivitamins too.

Hope you feel better soon. Mounjaro lowers blood pressure and sugar so make sure you eat little and often. I experienced similar when starting on it for a few weeks. I still get days after every injection of feeling cold and tired.

hi @popdepop a quick fix would be an oxo cube in hot water to drink. And drinking plenty of water generally.
you do need some fuel to function but as long as you are eating good no ultra processed foods then your body will use your fat reserves for fuel, which is what you are wanting, so you don’t need to provide all your fuel from foods. It’s a bit of a balancing act

Ok, eating way too few calories is a common trend on WLIs, people seem to think the goal of taking them is to survive on the smallest number of calories humanly possible and drop all the weight in a couple of weeks, that is unsustainable, foolish and will lead to you feeling like crap, so stop doing it.

You should:
Calculate your TDEE. This will tell you 2 pieces of useful information: BMR = the amount of calories your body uses purely to survive, to grow hair/nails, to allow your organs to function, to keep you breathing. This is the minimum number of calories you should be eating a day. TDEE = total calorie expenditure including moving around, a bit of exercise, up and down the stairs a few times. If you eat this many calories a day you will maintain your weight. Your goal should be somewhere between BMR and TDEE in order to be healthy and lose weight.

Your diet should include foods from all food groups but be weighted towards protein and fibre, these keep you full, keep your bowels working and fuel your muscles. Carbs should where possible be complex rather than refined - Green veg, whole grains, seeds. Refined carbs break down fast and give you an instant hit of sugar but you then end up with a crash and that leaves you feeling hungrier and craving more sugar. You can mitigate this a bit by pairing the carb with a protein or fat - eg avocado on toast, jacket potato with cottage cheese

There's no need to do this.
I eat everything I used to eat, but just much smaller portions. I have bread and potatoes every day.

I've still lost 7 stone!

You're not having enough carbohydrate, and your blood sugar is low. That's what is causing you to feel weak, I think.
