Lowish blood pressure - should I go to Dr?

I’m looking for some advice. I’ve been on Mounjaro for nearly 12 weeks. I have lost 1 1/2 stone but still have another 2-2 1/2 stone to go for a BMI of around 22-23.

I’m monitoring my blood pressure every week. While it wasn’t in the high category at the start, it was creeping towards it so I was quite pleased that it was bringing it down to around 105/75. But a few times I’ve checked it and it has been around 95/67.

I’ve been feeling a bit queasy (I had put it down to the injection) but have also felt quite unusually tired on a few occasions (fell asleep on the sofa this afternoon) so thought I’d check my blood pressure and it was 90/66. This has worried me a bit as this is very close to hypotension levels.

I’m not great at drinking water but have been making an extra effort over the last few days to drink more than 2 litres a day.

I’m not really sure what to do. It’s not officially ‘low’ but I’m worried that it seems to be dropping quite a bit. Do you think it would be reasonable to have a chat with my GP about it? I don’t get prescribed by them, I get Mounjaro privately.

The lower blood pressure with the symptoms warrant a conversation with your Dr. I would monitor daily morning and evening while trying for an appointment so you’ve got something to download and show them. They might suggest water and/or electrolytes, increase sodium to help and do blood tests to check thyroid etc. My brother has very low blood pressure and sodium, but strangely no side effects. A water reminder app might help you get more water in more frequently through the day.

It would also be worth a conversation with your provider too for advice, they should hopefully pass to and let you discuss with their medical team, I wouldn’t do any dose increases until you’ve discussed.

Tis a pretty normal bp for someone young/fit and wouldn't really expect it to be symptomatic (dizzy). Drink more keep a diary and book a routine appt but isn't something I'd personally worry at

Thanks both, I have messaged my provider and will monitor. I’m mid 50s.

I have bought some Ancient & Brave hydration powder which has electrolytes in it, so will start taking that. No plans to increase Mounjaro dose at the moment.

I suggest trying electrolytes and maybe some salty foods. Could you be anaemic? That can contribute to low blood pressure. Def worth keeping an eye on it.

I’m not sure about anaemia, but I could ask the GP when I see them. I will start tracking things more closely. Also, yes to salty food, love that!

Anaemia doesn't cause hypotension (outside of exanguinating haemorrhage of course which I'm sure you'd have noticed!
