My son has several friends working within parliament and says it’s a done deal - and ideally will be quite quick too . It’s not just hot air - I’m pleased for those it would hugely benefit who genuinely can’t afford it - I think rules will be tightened though- probably none of this ‘I’ve got 12lbs to lose’ stuff -

It's all about the local elections here.

Has Farage been injecting? You don't need to answer that.

GustyBaloo · 02/05/2025 09:53

I've just found an article. Interesting. I wonder if an when it is rolled out, who will police -(not police, you know what I mean...) dosing and upping doses and side effects etc. I imagine the demand will be huge. Hello! Saving over 150 per month...

When do we start queuing?

Kipperandarthur · 02/05/2025 09:53

The problem is that it's all rather speculative at the moment. If you read the various news articles on this it's certainly not a done deal.

Previous articles have claimed it would be far too costly and there will need to be a roll out that could take a considerable number of years.

SilenceInside · 02/05/2025 09:54

It's been a bit buried under the election headlines, and the BBC haven't got an obvious article about it yet - it's only mentioned in the review of newspaper headlines.

It's only a pilot initially, no details as to where or how many areas would be involved. I'd be thrilled if I could get it for £9.90 a month, but I wait to see if this can be rolled out as quickly as the reporting suggests.

Where is this article please?

Sky have an article on it, but as you read through you realise it's all very early doors at the moment and could take absolutely ages to roll out.

Previous articles have stated it would bankrupt the NHS and that the roll out would need to be extremely slow, with extremely set criteria as to who would be eligible and even then it could take up to 12 years to roll out.

12 years? I'll have beaten my goal weight by then. Skeletal 😭🤣

Waiting to see how NHS Scotland will respond and if they are having any similar discussions.

Sadly previous articles have suggested an extremely long roll out, but who knows if Eli Lilly mass produces and changes their pricing structure. They are also working on a pill formula as well.

I just think it's a bit early for the likes of us to be thinking yay we can all start on a prescription say in the Summer! Although I would love for this to be the case.

We should be first in the queue, we've been paying 🤣

I'm happy as I am got 10mg in fridge waiting for me to finish my 7.5...

Maybe I'll break out of the 13s into the 12s!

Crikeyalmighty · 02/05/2025 11:19

i think it will be quicker than many think - although probably not quick enough for the current users- but hey may well be in for those needing another round in 5 years!!

I saw this headline pop up on the news this morning but my guess is if it happens it will take so long I will no longer be eligible by the time it’s readily available! I would like to be at target next year and I very much doubt this will be a thing in the next couple of years!

Allseeingallknowing · 02/05/2025 16:15

Hope it takes off- if it does there’ll be queues many times around the block!

Summerbay23 · 02/05/2025 16:39

Just hope we’re eligible if we already have a reduced BMI? For instance if the criteria is still over a BMI of 35 with a health condition (and say we have a BMI of 30-34 at that point??). Feels really unfair if we had to carry on paying privately.

Southwest12 · 02/05/2025 17:57

Would love it to happen soon and be eligible as I am medically exempt from prescription fees, but I think even if/when it does happen they'll set the BMI high (similar to Tier 3 referrals) and none of us will be eligible!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 02/05/2025 22:52

The prescribing information I found when looking recently (before today) was high bmi Plus 4 serious conditions for the next few years. Then 3 conditions etc... So I can't see it being generally accessible to obese people for many years.
