SEMAGLUTIDE

Hi. I’ve recently started on Semaglutide injections. The nausea is constant and the thought of food makes me want to gag 😫 I can stomach plain food like toast or cereal but anything else I can’t bare the thought of. I feel like I did in my first trimester of my pregnancies. I’m due my next jab next week but don’t know if I can feel like this again. Does anyone know if my second dose won’t be the same as my first in terms of symptoms? Thanks

What dose did you start at?

Starter dose. 0.25mg I think it is.

That’s the correct dose. Ask your prescriber if you can extend the time until your next dose,

how does that work? Does it just give my body more time to adjust? Thanks x

When you inject, you have the maximum levels of the medication in your blood. Everyday, your body eliminates a bit of it and your blood levels go down. If you inject again at day 7, you'll still have some left at that point, so your levels will go higher than they were at your first dose. Waiting a few more days allows your blood levels to drop so that your next injection won't spike them so high.

You should adjust to the medication as time goes on. Hunger is complex and not mediated by a single molecule. Your brain will think that you're starving and find ways to increase your desire to eat, or at least tolerate eating.

Op, you'll be OK. It tends to calm down after a week or two.

Personally I'd try and push through this first pen and see how you feel week on week.

I found the nausea worse due to low blood sugars so try to eat little and often. Toast is fine if that's all you can manage for a few days.

Drink plenty. Peppermint tea helps and take a multi vitamin until things settle down.

It usually improves once your body adjusts. Keep the portions tiny and avoid anything heavy. I’m using Minimal for my semaglutide and the start was similar. The next shot did not hit as hard. It stops feeling like morning sickness and turns more into just being full faster.
