Weight gain after MJ

ImFinkinn · 30/04/2025 21:11

Hit my goal weight of 9stone in December.
Jan, Feb and March i fluctuated just a few lbs up and down with periods, but the most I weighed was 9st 2.5lbs which usually went back down to 9st after my period.

However with Easter and my period after I have just weighed myself and im 9st7lbs

I feel huge (please don't hate me for saying that, I know 9st7lbs is NOT any where near huge but after being that since Xmas and being used to all my clothes being a roomy size 10 and now eberything being tight again I do feel it)

I did so well for 3 months and I've just slipped so badly!

How much weight did you lose OP? Context helps

GetOverItPleaae · 30/04/2025 21:17

What's your BMI at 9stone OP? And what is it at 9stone7? I find the lower the weight, the less difference there is on BMI. So for me, my BMi wouldn't be much different at 9stone7 than it is at 9stone, and both weights are well within healthy range ....

Don't stress too much, see if you can drop the 7lbs again just by reducing your calories for a few weeks. If you keep gaining, maybe try and get back on a maintenance dose before it's too late and you have to get to BMI 30 before you can get it again!

ImFinkinn · 30/04/2025 21:55

Altogether I lost 119lbs

38lbs on MJ
My bmi now is 22.1

At 9st its 21

But its my stomach, its probably down to excess skin too but at 9st i am quite 'flat' but at 9.7 the weight goes straight to my mum apron :(

Weight will normally fluctuate, OP. Especially around your menstrual cycle. It's not healthy to obsess over it. You know why it's gone on, so just scale back the calories over the next week or so.

I am not obsessing over anything, I'm being accountable.

For 2 decades i ignored 7lb gains until they all added up to me being near 18stone.

I know wright fluctuates, hence me NOT being concerned with a 2/3lbs fluctuation throughout the month.

But another 4lb ontop of that which isnt going back down, taking me to having gained half a stone is above the limit of a normal fluctuation.

I won't put myself in the position of waking up in 6 months time to being 12stone again because its 'only 7lbs'

That minset led me to be morbidly obese and very unwell

Sympathies OP, I know when I'm around 9 stone a 7lb gain feels significant, infact a 2-3lb gain can be the difference between jeans doing up or not. When I was bigger a 7lb gain (or loss for that matter) wouldn't be that noticeable. I'm aiming to go a half stone under my target this time so I have plenty of wiggle room, it can be very hard maintaining these weights x

I completely get what you're saying, I've gained all the weight back after a diet before and I would hate it to happen to you. Please find a maintenance friendly provider while you still have time. Pharmulous, oushk, Livewell, swift Dr, call them and ask if you would be eligible to restart mj if you can't keep the weight off. I think they like a history with you but it's worth a try and I don't want you to end up not eligible until you're BMI 30 again.

I think people have been lulled into believing that mounjaro is a temporary solution to give you time to learn healthy habits but I have PCOS and I know I'll need mounjaro long term because mounjaro is correcting a metabolic issue. Willpower was never the problem, my body was just not metabolising things properly.

I get it. (10kg off goal -MJ myself)

back on the horse @ImFinkinn cut your portion sizes and keep to the lose rate of TDEE.

you got this. Couple of weeks of being sensible and you’ll be back where you need to be.

did you go cold turkey? Maybe consider going onto an MJ maintenance plan?

Oblomov25 · 09/05/2025 05:46

Totally normal. You either try a small MJ maintenance dose. Or make a mental decision, right, I'm gonna do this by diet alone, for the next x weeks, until I get back down to 9 stone x. Probably best to do both?

Oblomov25 · 09/05/2025 05:46

Sorry to 9 stone x.

IDontHateRainbows · 09/05/2025 06:20

Mj is associated with rebound hunger when you stop. Most people have to take it permanently if they want to avoid weight gain.

ImFinkinn · 09/05/2025 16:32

I've just been diagnosed with underactive thyroid and hashimotos disease so i think I'm just a bit freaked out right now.

I need to over haul my eating because of that (no UPFs/sugar/gluten) so hopefully that will help.

I can't go back in MJ unfortunately.
