Favourite easy snacks to up your daily protein

Please share extras you're eating / drinking to get your protein intake up!

Like a bunch of people on here, I'm still finding it tricky to get in the amount of protein I'd ideally be consuming. This is my main focus now as my weightloss is fine but I can feel and see the muscle loss and thinning hair :( I've changed my tack from meal planning to snack planning as my meals are already pretty decent from that perspective.

If possible, I'm going to continue avoiding protein shakes if I can as I'm trying to get into sustainable eating habits and would rather eat real food.

So far in my list I have:

Having a bunch of boiled eggs ready in the fridge - 12g protein for two

Borough beef bone broth - 14g protein, tasty but expensive, can always drink a mug even if full and means more hydration too

Glass of skimmed milk - 8g

Tin of tuna - 27g. OK this one is too filling as a snack, more when I'm panicking about my hair falling out... I have it as tuna mayo with crackers

1/2 pack tofoo smoked tofu - 19g. Chopped into cubes. Probably there is a better way of eating this

Chaat - ??g. Greek yoghurt, crunchy chick peas, masala nuts, diced red onion, tamarind sauce, pomegranate molasses, lime zest. A bit more faffy than the others but delicious.

Edamame from the freezer - ??g

Hopefully others can share a few protein wins they've incorporated into their diets

Dark chocolate covered almonds from Pret - yum

TourangaLeila · 26/04/2025 19:27
  • Nuts and seeds sprinkled on things
  • 50% fat mozzarella and cherry tomatoes
  • Sliced chicken dipped in fat free vinaigrette
  • Hummus and carrots
  • Greek yoghurt
  • Eggs

I choose protein first when I pick what I want to eat. Managing to 1g per kg of weight so far fairly easily.

I always have almonds with me when out, to stave off low blood sugar. They are complete protein - same as meat or fish or cheese, whereas most nuts are not complete. At home, smoked salmon or yoghurt are quick go-tos, as no cooking required.

I roast a chicken, strip it and keep it in the fridge and nibble away at the tasty leg and thigh meat if I feel peckish. The breasts get used for lunches and dinners.

Some great ideas here. Dark chocolate covered almonds sounds delicious! I'll have to find some posh grocers with them as I've been enjoying never craving enough to step into pret and similar since the wli.

Adding houmous, salami and mozzarella to my shopping list.
