Hi!👋
im new here, hopefully im posting this correctly
I started MJ back in February, up till now I’ve lost 27lb, I done 5 weeks on 2.5, 5 weeks on 5, and I’m now due my second jab of 7.5.
on 2.5 I done really good, the first couple of weeks I wasn’t hungry at all, no craving then I started to feel hungry around day 5, then the following week it was day 3 post injection, then after 5 weeks I moved to 5, that had been awful, hungry all the time, even waking up feeling hungry, I had no effects at all. I then last week done my first 7.5 dose and I’m exactly the same as I was on 5, I could eat all day again 😢😢
Even though I’ve lost 27lb, to add insult to injury I’ve not even lost any inches, not even 1 inch!!
im getting very down with it all at the moment
Any advice please?
Thank you if you’ve made it this far

Viv x

You need to keep going until you find the level for you. It takes time. What are you doing re eating and exercise? What changes have you made? Where are you starting from? There are a lot of variables.

Rerrrrr · 23/04/2025 22:52

No wonder you’re hungry. At that rate of weight loss you are starving your body.

SilenceInside · 23/04/2025 22:58

@Rerrrrrthe weight loss of 27 pounds in 11 weeks isn’t really extreme. It’s about 2.4 pounds a week on average.

@VivIsBlondewas your starting weight very high? Mine was, and it took a decent chunk of weight off before I noticed my clothes being looser and losing noticeable centimetres off my measurements.

I’d give the 7.5mg chance to build in your system and see if that starts to have an effect.

I’m eating!!
I am definitely not starving myself, which is why I can’t understand feeling hungry all the time!!!

Opinions differ I guess. Losing 2 stone in 11 weeks would be a helluva drop for most people.

SilenceInside · 23/04/2025 23:22

It’s only a bit above what is considered steady weight loss (1 to 2 pounds per week), and I don’t think it’s really relevant to the issues that the OP is having with her response to the medication.

MrsMiagi · 24/04/2025 03:11

It doesn't sound like a standstill if you have lost 27pounds? I'd be really pleased with that (slow loser here). Keep going

Majority of that was in the first 5/6 weeks, the last couple of weeks I’ve not lost!!!

Are you drinking enough water? Drink a glass of water when you are feeling hungry and if you are still hungry after 10 minutes of drinking water then eat something. Mounjaro or any GLP1 causes bloating or 'stuck burps'. These stuck burps trigger body' hunger signals. Drinking water will help release the burp and instantly settle down the hunger signals.
If you have a lot of trapped air in your digestive system and you don't drink enough water, then your body will hold water and you would see lesser weight loss and inches.

A stall is not losing for 4-6 weeks. Are you drinking enough water?
Eating clean and healthy food?

I’ve been on MJ since September, you will have periods where you go a few weeks with very little loss, and other weeks where you lose a lot. It’s important to pause and re-assess what you’re doing, go back to basics:

What is your current weight, height, age and activity level - use this to calculate your TDEE
What do you eat every day - how many calories, how much protein, how much carbs, how much fibre?
How much do you drink? Are you getting enough water
How is your sleep? Too little sleep can reduce weight loss and increase weight gain?
Are you stressed? Stress increases Cortisol, Cortisol causes weight gain and reduces metabolism
Are you doing any exercise? Building muscle increases metabolism, it also helps your body to break down glucose which prevents it being stored as fat.

you mention feeling hungry, MJ isn’t actually an appetite suppressant, that is a side effect not the purpose. MJ increases 2 hormones that increase the amount of insulin you produce and make you more receptive to what has been produced. These hormones also allow your body to better recognise when it’s full. In addition MJ slows down digestion so that you feel full for longer. You need to help all of these processes, by eating more protein, less refined carbs and more fibre. Are you doing that? If you’re diet is heavy on refined carbs then you are forcing it to constantly battle sugar, to spike up and down which will make you feel hungry.

InfoSecInTheCity · 26/04/2025 07:22

This is what my weight loss on MJ looks like, it’s up and down all the time but the overall trend is downwards. This is Obese to Healthy BMI, now I’m working towards the middle of the healthy range.

At a standstill.

You just have to be patient and trust the process on Mounjaro. It's not linear. You're not on the full dose yet, and while lower doses work for some people, for others they don't. You've done really well so far, it's likely to slow down now but if you carry on you'll keep losing.

Are you literally the same weight that you were 3-4 weeks ago or are you a couple of pounds lighter?

Also, are you tracking calories consumed and burned? This makes it easier to work out what's going on.

For example, I'm eating around 1200-1500 cal/day, so if I want to lose 2lbs a week that means I have to walk around 20,000 steps each day or do other equivalent exercise. I had a week where I was a bit unwell and not exercising and my weight went up very slightly, which makes sense as I was no longer in deficit.

I drink at least 3/4 litres a day!
I’ve recently been diagnosed with a few intolerances so I’ve had to completely change what I eat, I used to mainly eat chocolate crisps and biscuits 🤦🏻‍♀️ simply because it was easier to take to work as a lot of food made me ill so I avoided a lot of things, lol I’ve since discovered not only was it bread ( that I avoided eating at work) it was also chocolate & biscuits making me ill!!
so now I tend to mainly eat bananas, satsumas, grapes, kiwi fruits, salad and fresh meats
