Should I give up because of side effects?

I have a 2.5 mg pen
I messed up my first jab but I have used 2 successfully. However 48 hours after each jab I have horrible diarrhoea and stomach pain this lasts a while day. I reported my side effects and was told I’d need to stay on 2.5 mg for another 4 weeks I am not sure if it’s worth it. I’m not even sure I can face the last jab.

I don’t seem to know which way to turn

Have you got a lot of weight to lose?

You could consider taking less than 2.5mg, if the 2.5mg dose doesn't settle down for you.

My advice would be to micro dose. Go down to 1.25 mg (or even less) for a couple of weeks. I started on quarter doses as I was being extra cautious. Obviously you need to buy extra needles if you go down this path. Some people are very sensitive to MJ. Many side effects disappear or at least diminish over time, at least that has been my experience, apart from a sniffy nose in my case. The constipation, fatigue and arm rash have all faded over time.

I find that my side effects are sporadic and don’t always come back. The worst one was when I went to 10mg, but I persevered and after two weeks they stopped

Are the side effects worse for your health than the extra weight? It seems unlikely. If you really can't stand the side effects, I'd reduce the dose, but not give up.

I have loads and loads to lose.
food suppression was minimal on the 2 doses I have had
ive lost weight because of the stomach aches and diarrhoea

I had about 12 stone to lose, so similar to you. My personal choice was to persevere and the side effects did settle down and stop. Not had any for months and months now. My side effects started at 5mg, so I stayed on that dose for longer before using part doses to move up to 7.5mg.

My SE were horrible for the first week, I was sick a lot and yes it does make you feel like giving up. But then I changed to injecting in the thigh and it was much better.

You could try that and really look at what you're eating in case it's too much or not agreeing with you.

Its just your body adapting and maybe consider just doing half a dose or 3/4 a dose for a few weeks then go back up when you may be less sensitive.

You're just two weeks in? It's very early days and your current dose is designed for your body to get used to the meds, which it's doing.
FWIW I had explosive diarrhoea in the first couple of weeks. What was coming out, rapidly, was just liquid. Since then it's settled right down though and if anything I get constipated more.

I had horrible side effects on saxenda, after 2 doses I stopped, i am someone who has had a lifetime of gastro problems but I honestly thought I was dying I was so ill. I foolishly started not long after getting over norovirus so I don’t think that helped.

I restarted after getting advice from others. I reduced my dose to get my body use to the drug. I then gradually increased my dosage. I also kept a diary and found out certain things would trigger my V&D. I could reduce my dose when having bad side effects and eventually cut out my triggers making increasing my dose much easier. I found saxenda much easier to control as it was daily so I wasn’t wasting much at the start.

When I moved onto Wegavoy I found the side effects less but didn’t loose as much weight straight away, it took a bit of perseverance to start loosing. I gave it up recently as I’ve been having other health issues which I and the GP wernt sure were related to the injections. i also couldn’t cope with the constipation, it got so unbearable.

i did consider doing something not advised. At the peak of my weight loss I was taking saxenda and Orlistat at the same time, the latter helping with the constipation. I decided against doing that with the Wegavoy just because I was having other issues on top.

Im not sure what your taking but if you can reduce the dose until you get use to it I would and persevere. I’d rather waste a little than all of it and also waste some to get my body use to it.

everyone is different but my trigger foods on saxenda where anything high fibre or hard to digest, onions, broccoli, cabbage, high fat foods, fatty meats, cheeses etc.. I was able to still eat “junk food” McDonald’s pizza but in very small doses which was important to me as potion sizes are a big problem for me.

Wegavoy I didn’t really have much in the way of trigger foods except white wine, after 1 glass I’d be throwing up.

good luck.
