Feeling horrible - trapped wind? Indigestion? Something else?

I’m on W12 Mounjaro 5mg. No side effects at all and nice steady weight loss, so been very happy with it.

Last few days (of course over Easter weekend!) I’ve been feeling a bit ropey in general - I think I’ve got sinusitis for the 5th time in a year - so having dizzy spells and headaches, but I’ve also got on and off pain kind of at the top of my stomach/bottom of my chest, radiating into my back, horrendous reflux, which I’m on gaviscon for anyway, and keep feeling a bit nauseous (which could be due to feeling dizzy) and just generally weak and crap. Also feel like I’m having heart palpitations, but I’ve tracked my HR on my smart watch, and it looks absolutely fine.

It’s been ongoing since Friday, so fairly sure I’m not having a heart attack! Not constipated as far as I know, but I’ve spent most of my life with IBS, which seems to have resolved itself since being on WLI, although I have no idea if I’m going to the loo enough now!

Never had trapped wind in my life, so I don’t know what it feels like. I do feel a bit like I’m full of air.

Tried ringing my GP this morning, but I think half the town had the same idea, so I couldn’t get through. Will try again tomorrow if I’m still feeling rubbish.

Just bought some Deflatine to see if that helps, but does this sound trapped wind-y/indigestion-y, or should I be worried?

Thanks for reading :)

Maybe call 111… there are risks of things like pancreatitis with WLI… not trying to alarm x

Bumping hopefully…

I don’t feel any worse than I did earlier, in fact the Deflatine seems to be helping, so thinking it’s probably trapped wind. Hoping I can get in the docs tomorrow. Every time I’ve rung 111 in the past, they’ve sent a blooming ambulance and I’m really not at that stage. If I still feel crap tomorrow, and can’t get in with the GP, I might go to the walk in centre.

Right, well I don't want to scaremonger but pancreatitis is a rare side effect of MJ and your symptoms do track a bit with that. You should definitely get checked out to reassure yourself as much as anything. It could just as easily be bad trapped wind.

I've been prone to occasional trapped wind for years, and use Deflatine - it does work - but personally I've never had pain radiating right through to my back and also the pain is higher in my chest than I think you're describing.

I hope you get it sorted soon and feel better.

Yes, I’m going to ring the docs in the morning anyway, as I suspect I need yet more antibiotics for my sinuses. Head feels like someone is inflating a balloon behind my face currently! Since taking a couple of doses of Deflatine, the pain in my stomach/chest has eased considerably, so fingers crossed it’s just wind.

I've had some super-painful trapped wind with MJ. The best thing to do is move your body, any way you can, to shift the gas through your system. I find going for a walk is best, but side bends, arm swinging, anything you can physically do is the quickest way to get relief.
Heated pads can also help.

That sounds like trapped wind. I had it like that when I decided a lunch of raw cabbage, chick peas and beetroot was a good idea.

I can assure you it was not. A few days of windeeze worked wonders

I’ve actually just been watching a video on YouTube about yoga moves to release trapped wind, so I’m going to lay on the bed and give some of them a go.

That’s interesting as I had homemade beetroot and horseradish hummus with carrot sticks on Friday, shortly before this pain started! Didn’t give it a thought as I’ve had it loads of times before and it wasn’t exactly a big meal.

Sounds like bad indigestion - I used to get it a lot, it can be very painful. For me not eating for a while and just drinking water in sips plus a hot water bottle held just under my boobs and some paracetomol was the only thing that helped.

This is what puts me off weight loss injections - I've had too many issues with my stomach over the years to risk unsettling it again!

Yea I think it is indigestion/trapped wind the more I’ve read. Bloody agony though!

I’ve been fine for 11 weeks; no side effects at all, but these last few days I’ve just felt rubbish.

I am wondering if because my sinuses are inflamed maybe I’m mouth breathing at night abs gulping in more air than normal and thats causing issues. Possibly clutching at straws!

It sounds a lot like trapped wind. I find for anything like that - trapped wind, heartburn, sulfur burps - pepto bismol takes care of any of it!

JBJ · 23/04/2025 23:23

Got in at the docs and they think I’m possibly a bit constipated and have a lot of trapped wind. I am going to the loo fairly regularly, but don’t always feel like I’m completely “empty” if that makes sense. So difficult to know what’s normal for me though as IBS has been present for most of my adult life.

I need more fibre apparently, which is easier said than done as I have very high appetite suppression at the minute and can’t eat much at all. Might look into a supplement if some kind.
