Maintenance with delivery I don’t have to be in for?

Hi everyone,

I’ve only just taken my third jab so got a way to go but I’m fretting. I’ve got a busy life, full time job and four kids - I can’t wait in for a delivery. I got my first pen from Asda so I could pick it up and I’m happy to do this again but I know they don’t do maintenance and they are pricey. I’m aware of the Monj website and I am wondering about moving to Oushk. Can anyone recommend a pharmacy that supports maintenance and will just send out in the post without expecting me to wait around for a signed for delivery? Bonus if it’s discrete - I haven’t told my husband I’m doing this.

I use Oushk and have never waited in for a delivery, but I WFH and am generally in anyway. If you have a lockbox or safe space is it any different to any other delivery? Or you can choose a time you will be in.

Most suppliers send with Royal Mail. Can you change your Royal Mail settings so signed for parcels go straight to your local PO?

ThirdStorm · 19/04/2025 08:37

MedExpress use Royal Mail and it doesn’t need a signature. I couldn’t be in recently and my postie left in my safe place. I was home within a few hours so everything still cold.

Most parcels the postie just sticks in the garage but on the rare occasion we have a signed for parcel it goes to a PO which would be fine actually as it’s on my way home from work. I’ve seen loads of people on here talking about waiting in for their injection parcels so assumed that was the norm. How big is the parcel? Wondering if I might have to fess up to my husband!!

Thanks that’s helpful. I don’t want to use MedExpress though as they don’t support maintenance - although perhaps this will change…

I’ve used pharmacy4u and zava. I’ve not been in when it’s been delivered and I have not yet told DH what I’m doing (& I’m in Week 8!)
so packaging tends to be discrete. All have been delivered by Royal Mail so postie would have have left it in our doorstep if no one had been in.

It's about the size of a paperback. I would tell if it wouldn't cause you problems, I was severely ill with side affects and my oh was scared I had cancer or something serious, throwing up daily, hair loss in the shower muscle tremors etc. he was relieved to find it was WLI

unsync · 19/04/2025 11:51

I have just found out that my local independent pharmacy offers WLI, so I've asked them whether they support ongoing maintenance. If they do, I'll provably switch to them.

I’ve been maintaining since September but my BMI is above their 23.5 cut off so not had any issues and knew I’d be happy to stay with them.

I am not on maintenance but from what I have seen on the Oushk facebook page they didn't allow you to choose a courier on their (pretty basic) website when using maintenance codes (15% off and free delivery) and defaulted to DPD which needs a pin. They have suspended DPD due to too many issues with them at the dispatch end so I think maintenance orders now default to Royal Mail Recorded which needs a signature.

But I have seen people saying you can order and email them your order number and ask for Royal Mail shipping which you can then say in the royal mail app to divert to your safe place (at your own risk) or local PO. The wool packaging keeps pens cool for 48hrs so you would be looking to try to pick up same day if possible, especially as the weather gets warmer.

When you get Oushk parcels delivered the pens and ice blocks are packed in a wool jacket then put in a plastic delivery bag - I just measured an empty one I have sitting and would say when full it would be at least 12" x 13" x 3". The Oushk bags say something on the outside about it being cold packaging. Enough to prompt interest if your dh notices these things (mine doesn't, but knows anyway). I think some pharmacies deliver in the same wool jackets then put in boxes which might be less obvious, but I expect most will have the pharmacy name as the return address on the box or parcel label.

I use zava which is Royal Mail and my postie has always just left it if I'm out

Cookiedoughthesecond · 19/04/2025 19:29

I use ZAVA and when I wasn't in it was sent to the local post office and redelivered the next day. They use a signed for service.

DollyPop100 · 19/04/2025 20:22

Can I please ask to switch to maintenance with different supplier as mine don’t. I have heard people say I need to show them the prescription but I have never received one it is all online the ordering. Can anyone explain how it works ? Currently with Zava through Asda.

SilenceInside · 19/04/2025 20:58

@DollyPop100 your prescription is on the label of the medication box that you’re sent. It shows your name, the date, the dose and the medication that you’re on. So if you’ve kept those, you can show a photo of them to a new supplier. If you don’t have them, Asda/Zava will have sent a letter to your GP for each prescription, and you can see those in the NHS app if you have access to that.
