Been on Mounjaro 7 weeks lost 8lb, very slow. Cut down, stopped smoking, less fizzy drinks, loads of water.
Very slow process. Extremely tired 😫
Seems like a huge amount of money to lose 8lbs so far

Have you checked the calories you need to reduce to in order to lose at a faster rate? You need to find out this and calorie count. It's very much a marathon not a sprint though. It's a chance to completely overhaul your diet and exercise and get to a healthy weight

Mysticmaiden · 18/04/2025 11:20

Would you have lost 8lbs in 7 weeks without it? Think of it like that. Increase your water and protein intake and limit carbs. If you can calorie count and track your food that will ensure consistent losses. You need to be in a deficit to lose. Carbs makes us retain water and causes bloating if you're sensitive to them.

ILoveDrivingYey · 18/04/2025 11:26

I'm guessing you must still be on only 5mg.

For lots of people the real weight loss doesn't kick in til 10mg or even 12.5mg.

Hang in there! 💪

SandSeaSoleil · 18/04/2025 11:34

Healthy weight loss is 1 - 2 lbs a week.

Losing too fast is not good. As everyone knows, but ignores!

You don’t give your starting weight, or how you normally lose weight, or your age or activity levels, your metabolism, any health issues, or what your diet is like generally (all relevant).

But if you’re losing over 1 lb a week you’re actually achieving something.

1-2lb per week is the healthy rate to lose weight.

Making gradual healthy changes (less carbs, alcohol, UPF and more protein, fibre, water) will lead to weightloss without muscle wastage, and will mean you’re more likely to keep the weight off.

InfoSecInTheCity · 20/04/2025 07:18

Take us through what a days worth of food looks like for you, and have you calculated your TDEE?

Mounjaro works by increasing the amount of insulin your body produces, making your body more sensitive to that insulin and by slowing your digestion so that you feel fuller for longer.

From my analysis of the threads I’m on and the forums I read as well as my own experience it seems that those with the most consistent losses and the least side effects and symptoms seem to stick to high protein, low carb, plenty of fibre and good fats, 500 calories below TDEE (not starvation diets!) 2lts water a day, introducing more exercise, specifically focusing on strength training.

FrocksAndFrills · 22/04/2025 21:35

Stick with it! I have been on Mounjaro for 18 weeks and lost 21 pounds. Slow and steady is good. The difference with Mounjaro is that it is pretty consistent weight loss…..if I was trying without it, I would have given up by now! I’m in this for the long haul. Hope it goes well for you. Xx

8lbs off in 8 weeks and put 3llbs back on over easter. Not going well just started on 7.5mg but feel so depressed over it 😕 😞

Other ppl are having so much success with it but I'm struggling, get full quicker, not eating quite as much, tracking and food diary's makes me stressed and I promised I'd never do that again after years of slimming clubs, this was my last hope so upset. 😪😥😥

DarkForces · 26/04/2025 11:29

Take a breath. I'm slower compared to a lot and whilst I don't calorie track I do keep a close eye on portion size and the weight is coming off. I have:
1 weetabix with 5 prunes for breakfast about 200 calories
Small salad with chicken, 1 egg omelette or half a salmon poke bowl for lunch about 250 calories
Chicken/salmon with small portion of potatoes roasted in a teaspoon of olive oil and lots of veg mindful chef dinner about 650 calories

That way I have a mix of stuff I can choose from and don't have to calorie count. Calculate your regular meals then you can relax.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa · 26/04/2025 11:31

What are you eating? Are you getting enough protein, veg and fruit and water? And reducing carbs and calories? Are you counting calories?

“Comparison is the thief of joy”

it may take a while and you may need to reflect on what you are eating/portion sizes etc to lose more steadily.

I used weight watchers alongside the jabs to help me work out what helped and what didn’t help me. Now I am going to focus on eating healthily and have ditched WW. I feel the same as you but needed something to help me work out what to eat. After all I must have been eating badly or I wouldn’t have got fat.

Rockdaylia44 · 26/04/2025 11:51

I do eat a lot of protein but still having cards, bread, pasta etc, maybe I need more fruit and vegetables. Lots of water, given up smoking, hardly drink coke now. on HRT menopausal. Walk a lot.
Tend to get very stressed with tracking foods to the point of obsessed with it so that doesn't work for me really

carbs

OP posts:
SandSeaSoleil · 26/04/2025 11:53

Also, it takes a while for some of it to start working properly in our bodies - for people like me it took months really. For me, the beginning was all over the place, up, down, stalling. Then it seemed to find its own slow steady pace. Just be patient. 😎

SandSeaSoleil · 26/04/2025 11:58

And if calorie counting makes you anxious or doesn’t work for you - for me it’s only been useful short term - just do it simply - think healthier food, good protein intake, smaller portions and exercise if you can manage it. Then fugfhetaboutit. Spend your freed up time doing something else 😊 .

Rockdaylia44 · 26/04/2025 12:00

Thing is at £150 a month being patient is not financially viable. Such a huge amount for little return

OP posts:
SilenceInside · 26/04/2025 12:07

I’d give the 7.5mg a chance to build on your system, and use the remaining liquid after doing 4 doses to get 5 doses per pen to help with the costs. I’d also change your diet as you’ve suggested, more veg and fewer carbs, make sure portions are smaller, and so on. See how you go over the course of this current pen, and re assess when you are thinking about ordering a new pen, or not.

I’d take a small loss over 8 weeks rather than a gain, for the money you’ve spent.

DarkForces · 26/04/2025 12:21

I'd cut out as much of the carbs as you can. I no longer eat bread and rarely have pasta. Lots of vegetables and protein is the way to go.

Wildswimmer79 · 26/04/2025 21:50

I don't understand why so many cut carbs so low and then wonder why they have no energy to exercise. Carbs are an energy source for fuel. Fat is a long term fuel burn but carbs don't have to be an enemy.

ThumbTowers · 27/04/2025 10:38

Yes, I have had several doses at 2.5mg now and not really noticed any difference in my weight yet. Maybe 1-2 pounds. I am disappointed. I move up to 5mg shortly so I am reserving judgement until I've been on that for a few weeks. But I can't relate at all to the people who have lost a stone a month! I have a lot of weight to shift, so was hoping for a steady 2 or 3 pounds a week.

poppetandmog · 27/04/2025 17:06

I’ve found from speaking to others online that those who are not having a lot of success are not tracking. It really is calories in vs calories out. This isn’t a miracle drug, it’s just a tool and you do still need to put in the work. I appreciate that tracking can become obsessive for some people but even just working out what your calories should be and having a rough idea should make a difference.

Rockdaylia44 · 31/05/2025 20:33

Finished Mounjaro just didn't work 😕 😪 going to try orlistat, Dr said Mounjaro just doesn't work for some people

What volume jab did you move up to in the end? How much did you lose overall?

I posted on your thread previously as I had just started MJ and had used 2.5mg for a few weeks and not lost much at all. I moved up to 5mg a few weeks ago and still not noticing much. I am probably where you were when you started the thread. I'm nearing the end of 5mg and lost about 6lbs. Very disappointing. Plan to move up to 7.5mg though and see how that goes.
