Am just curious because I’m not experiencing the weight loss that everyone else seems to.

How long have you been on the medication?

TheArcher · 14/04/2025 09:53

How much have you lost? What are you eating? Are you exercising?

ChocoChocoLatte · 14/04/2025 10:41

My situation is rather complicated in terms of health/meds etc and I’ve come to the jabs having been taking the meds first.

my T2 diabetes has reversed having worked in it for a while now but am wondering why no weight loss since the cross over to injections.

I’ve lost 2stone 4lbs since my heaviest but nothing recently.

i had lost just under 3 but have had slow weight gain hence changing to the injections.

this will be my 4/5th wk on them (I’d need to check)

Are you taking Mounjaro or Wegovy/Ozempic?

TheArcher · 14/04/2025 11:39

But what are you eating and are you exercising? I’m guessing you choosing to ignore that question is because it’s actually the answer.

ChocoChocoLatte · 14/04/2025 11:44

@SilenceInside It's a 1mg Ozempic injection

@TheArcher , is there any need? I'm in the middle of something this morning and can only answer when I have a moment. My diet is fine; it mostly consists of homemade soups, fruit, and vegetables with an occasional sweet treat or packet of pom-poms. Exercise is where and when I can, seeing as I am also dealing with Stage 4 cancer, on chemo constantly, and currently sporting a frozen shoulder.

I am not new to healthy eating and tend to cook from scratch. My general fitness has sadly declined due to other health issues, and I am battling against the requirements of my other medication - for example, I HAVE to eat when taking my chemo as it must be ingested with food. This morning I have had a small bowl of Special K with banana and milk to allow me to take my chemo dose. I likely won't eat again until this evening's dose where I'll be having chicken and roasted vegetables.

I'll also do my usual one-hour walk with the dogs - if I can convince someone to come with me, as I cannot hold the leads myself just now.

In the nicest way possible, it sounds like being on weight loss injections is the least of your problems. Why add it to the list of things you’re going through?

SilenceInside · 14/04/2025 14:22

@TheArcher it sounds like the OP has been put onto Ozempic injections to control her diabetes and not only for weight loss. It's not a private weight loss prescription that the OP has chosen to take, rather it's been prescribed as part of her T2 diabetes management by the NHS.

I think it would be a question best answered by your diabetes team @ChocoChocoLatte as you have a lot of different things going on with you at the moment that are not the usual experience of most people here. I guess it's an improvement if your weight is stable rather than continuing to increase though?

ChocoChocoLatte · 14/04/2025 21:51

@TheArcherso that when this shit snow spreads to my bones I have a better chance than I would do carrying too much weight.

honestly - the oncology clinic is the only one they don’t want you to lose weight !

I’d like to lose another 1 possibly 1.5 stone. I’m not massive but it would make things easier if I was smaller.

@SilenceInsidethank you. I’ve done very well to reverse my T2 diabetes considering my other ailments but the switch to injections was due to the amount of pills I have to take on a daily basis lol

I just wondered if maybe a switch from pills to injections was the reason of if it doesn’t work for some folks.

I’ll suppose I’ll just try to do better

@ChocoChocoLatte I wonder whether your prescriber would consider going higher than 1mg for the Ozempic? For weightloss, Wegovy (which is the same medication as Ozempic) goes up to 1.7mg and then 2.4mg.

It sounds like you have an awful lot on your plate, OP. You need to be in a calorie deficit to lose weight but I don't think many people would have the capacity to track calories in your position. I would suggest continuing with your healthy diet, possibly replacing some of the very sugary fruit with more vegetables, and prioritising protein whenever you can.

Wishing you the very best Flowers
