Do you pile the weight back on after Mj?

I don't know why I do it but I read a thread about why people aren't using MJ and a few people said about knowing people who have just piled the weight back on after coming off MJ?

Is this the case? I am hoping the healthy habits I'm adopting will remain if on it for a while but the thought of doing this and then pile it all back on makes me want to cry.

I don't understand it either. I also don't care that people think it's the 'easy way' to do it, why would I want to do something a hard way that hasn't worked?

They say weight loss surgery is “the easy way out” too. Nothing remotely easy about that of course! People who haven’t struggled with their weight have no bloody idea.

@OnyourbarksGSGyou should be able to take it once you’ve had gall bladder out. I’ve had mine out about 5 years ago and have seen nothing to say you can’t. The main issue is that any weight loss can start gallbladder issues, which ever way you go it.
I feel like I might have to be on this forever in some form/dose but the thing is, if I can’t or don’t want to, there’s no need for me to be in the obese zone ever again, even if I head in to the overweight zone I can start it up again. So no need to get as out of control as I was beforehand. Not ideal but it does reassure me. The new versions are being developed continuously.

Surely, like any weight loss regime it’ll depend on whether you change your eating habits when you’re losing so that the habits become ingrained.

Both of the people I know who have lost a lot on weight loss jabs have both told me that they are still not eating healthily, they are just simply hardly eating. I don’t know how sustainable they’ll find it to be honest. But that’s the same for any weight loss isn’t it?

Given my weight history, I went on MJ knowing that I likely can’t stop when I get to goal without weight gain. I hope to come off eventually but think I’ll be on a maintenance plan for a while.

Do you know if it would have helped to 'phase off' the injections by dropping down the doses over time rather than flicking the hunger switch overnight so that you are in at the deep end?

It makes no difference apparently. Titrating down is not recommended in the literature, it's not a drug of dependency.

I lost 18 kg on Wegovy/Ozempic over 8 months and then tapered down for another 2. Never went higher than 1mg as there were shortages and once things eased I had lost the weight I needed to (86kg down to 68). Had my last dose a year ago. Currently tracking between 69-70kg. I have to work on maintaining - I have no choice as currently none of the providers will talk to me about maintenance as I had my last dose so long ago. It's a bit dull. But then so was being miserable due to being overweight/obese (BMI 31 when I started)

Since starting MJ my blood pressure has dropped, I dont need tablets to treat high BP. I've more engergy, less aches and I'm eating healthly.

The desire and taste for healthy food has amazed me.

I've increased my fitness as have desire and energy for cycling/walking.
The noise of high proceed food has gone.
I've been discharged from my cardiologist who advised me to stay on MJ for life. He was so impressed with the resutls he's seen in his MJ patients.

i have stopped mounjaro a week ago after 3.5 months. I’ve had enough of the side effects 5mg gave me. I was so lethargic and cold all the time despite of electrolytes and vitamins.
Im happy about the weight i have lost and being on it almost made me forget the unhealthy relationship i had with food.
It took about a week for my full suppression to go and while i feel great and alive again all the food noises are back and i just want to eat all the time. I want to say i’ve adapted good habits and will be easier to keep up but the reality is that it will be very hard.
Makes me a bit sad that nothing changed really except that i was given a gift of losing weight and i should have the willpower to keep it down but we shall see.
Good luck to all of us keeping the weight down 😊

@Isitorisitnot12 did the coldness go away once you stopped? I’m doing well on MJ and likely to stay on for maintenance but I too am cold all the time and wondering whether dropping my dose or stopping will help with that. Need to weigh up against the other pros/cons obviously

MayaPinion · 12/04/2025 14:19

I’ve been on MJ for almost 3 months and I feel amazing. I stayed on 2.5 for two months and anticipate staying on 5 for at least another 2 months. The suppression is great but there have been so many other benefits. I have more energy and my thinking is much clearer - my menopausal brain fog has much reduced. I’m happy with a glass or two of wine instead of wanting the whole bottle and I don’t need a coffee first thing in the morning. It has greatly attenuated my cravings for stimulants.

I’d never diagnose myself with ADHD because I’m not qualified to do so, but I definitely have some of the tendencies (sensation seeking, risk taking, etc.) and they have all been attenuated. There is more ‘space’ in my brain and it’s quieter. I can focus on work much better and tackle bigger jobs like clearing out the full garage that always seemed too overwhelming. I’ve also lost 10kilos, so not loads compared to lots of people but I’m going at a steady rate, tracking calories, and enjoying the journey. I’d love my brain to be like this forever!

Isitorisitnot12 · 12/04/2025 15:18

@Femeia yes it did. i have my energy back. It got to a point where i was shivering the whole day and could not wait to have a hot bath and go to bed. So i have my energy back but also have my greediness back 😊
It was time to take a break from it i felt.
I suspect that i will go back on a lower dose in a few weeks. Not sure for how long and how sustainable it will be on the long run but i’m definitely happy to have done it. Good luck
