I've been on Mounjaro about 8 months. 4 stone lost in total.
Have suffered on and off side effects (SE), not bad enough for me to stop the jabs as they are working so well to help me lose weight. Have managed to start exercising, have signed up to a 10Km etc.

However, some weeks I am totally fine / wouldn't know I've had it from a SE point of view.

And some weeks - like this one I feel floored. Weak, nauseous etc. Can cope with the "runny tummy" and feeling tired, but I have 2 young kids and work as a nurse so full on job. With the nausea I just can't work out how to feel better.

Once or twice I've actually been sick and felt much better for it. But don't want to make myself sick. Do people really do this?

Can't tell if I should continue to eat small amounts, or go for nothing. I'm not hungry but it's almost that "hungry nausea" feeling like when I was pregnant. Do people eat? Not eat? Drink loads of water / not drink loads?

What are your tips please!!

Have you tried peppermint? I've seen a lot of people say this helps when feeling sick . I've not tried it myself though xx

No I haven't - can't usually stomach the stuff but maybe I'll have to try again. The tea or just like peppermint sweets?

The pharmacy you buy it from can prescribe you an antisickness tablet for an extra fee x

Have you tried keeping a food diary and see if you spot any patterns with certain foods? With the delayed stomach emptying it could be a somewhat delayed reaction in my experience.

I have had similar experiences. Sometimes I feel fine and other times nauseous. I’ve found sipping water and eating a couple of dry cream crackers helps. I have also tried antisickness tablets as @twinklyroseturtle mentions, they helped with the sickness but made me very thirsty,

@stargazer02 yes I have looked at this in the past and I think it may be to do with occasions where I do the jab and eat certain foods too soon after doing it.

As opposed to evening jab for example and then sleep all night / usually don't eat until around midday the next day.

This time I did jab then had a breakfast which I don't think "sat well" with me for the rest of the day. Then it sets me off for a few days where I feel like this.

Lesson learnt AGAIN about this, but just feeling sorry for myself right now and wanted to try and get myself back on track for the rest of the week.

Try to add watermelon in your daily routine. If you have too much nausea then sprinkle some salt on it.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 03/04/2025 09:45

I'm still not sure why sometimes I get nausea and sometimes I don't.

Nausea is usually caused by low blood sugar, dehydration - specially if low electrolytes, acid reflux, food intolerances and hormonal issues.

The reason you have nausea some days is probably linked to your diet. You are sometimes eating too less causing the blood sugar to go on the lower side as weight loss injection do target your blood sugar levels or it could be related to your water intake. Some people also suffer from constipation and hence take laxatives. Laxatives draw water into intestines and can cause electrolytes imbalance and dehydration. If your nausea is around use of laxatives then that could be the reason.

Some people have reported acidic reflux when they change dosage so that could be a possibility too.

And last it could be hormonal as weight loss can sometimes make irregular menstrual cycles more regular and that can cause nausea.

It could be anyone of the issues or a combination. It could also be the location of injection site. Some get more nausea if they inject in stomach as it causes more absorption.

I saw something that said smelling antiseptic/alcohol type wipes helps. Haven't had any nausea yet to test myself though.
